Re: Need some input

I work in the outdoor industry, where it’s become a bit of a faux pas to “pink and shrink” women’s gear. There’s some interesting U.S. military research suggesting that, proportionally, men and women aren’t as different as people assume. For example, a man with smaller hands will generally be ...

Re: So Why Is A Knife A Factory Second?

Spyderco’s First-QC are extraordinarily tight and measured objectively:
(1) grind symmetry within ±0.015″ bevel height and plunge-line placement;
(2) zero visible chatter, waves, or over-grinds under 10× magnification.
(3) lock engagement 40–60 % with no measurable side-to-side blade play and ...

Re: So Why Is A Knife A Factory Second?

I don’t know this for certain but I’ve hear that Spyderco requires retails to send customers returns back to HQ, because there was an issue at one time with folks purchasing authentic knives & returning fake ones. If this is true, I would assume that is a fair number of the second knives.

Steel Collecting vs. Intended Use

I’ve been looking to add both a Microjimbo and a Yojimbo to my stable. I recently picked up the new 15V MicroJimbo. I was sold on the BBB heat treatment story—and don’t get me wrong, the quality is fantastic—but it left me wondering: is 15V really the best steel for the intended use of the Jimbo ...

Re: My Spyderco Story

Despite having lived in Colorado since 2007, Spyderco had somehow stayed just off my radar, aside from the familiar sign off Highway 93 that I’d passed countless times, always thinking, “I should stop in sometime.”

Last fall, I finally did. I saw something pop up about a factory sale and told my ...

My Spyderco Story

I’ll do my best to keep this concise, but I thought it might be fun and maybe even meaningful to share my how I “found” Spyderco. I hope others will chime in below with their own stories.

I grew up on the campground my grandparents owned. My grandfather was the quintessential “tool guy.” He ...

Re: Will MagnaMax be the next Mule?

I’m looking forward to getting both a Magnamax & AEBL mule to try out. Thinking of using them in the kitchen. Anyone else primarily use there mule in the kitchen? I’d love to know your preferred handle choice & washing routine.

Re: Para-Manix or Lil' Manix someday?

Have you considered a Sage 6? I'm a big Manix guy & just picked up the Sage 6, for me it does a great job of filling that "smaller Manix" hole.
