Re: Bark River Knives closing?
A little update on BRK -

I found this in my spam folder to my complete surprise. Looks like the statements from Mr Stewart about another company handling warranty claims in future was a fiction.
Looks like there was at least one decent person working at bark river, just not ...

I did some sharpening today but no testing. I am going to be testing z12 ultra vs vg exos, versus xhp. For the xhp, I used my kintif 1k stone to start my stone evaluations. At its current budget price durability is my ...

Re: Why I Prefer Endura
I would love to see some more variations of this knife, different steels, new colors, etc. But, on the whole, VG-10 is alright by me. I have an S30V version, but I don't know, I kind of like this gray one.
Well, Doc, you could go for SPY27 or K390 right away (regular production models).
And ...

Re: Why I Prefer Endura
Doc, as you will know I completely agree.
To me the Endura 4 still is the best folder ever made by any brand.
- Perfect "regular" EDC size for still convenient carry but enough cutting edge and grip area, just "not too big, not too small"
- Best, most versatile locktype with great closing bias ...

Re: What is your favorite Spyderco knife that you own?
Endura in K390, or Spyderchef. Spyderchef is absolutely worry free for maintenance, Ti framelock has no spaces for stuff to get caught, steel is rustproof and very tough, feels great in hand, looks awesome I love it for camping however doesn’t keep an edge as long as I would like and is thicker ...

Re: New PM2 FRN
My PM2 LW in BD1N arrived today from DLT. All I can say is that this basically fixed every issue I had with the original PM2 - switched to a wire clip, improved the ergonomics slightly, reduced the weight, and fixed the annoying lanyard tube design. Action and lockup on mine is fantastic out of ...

Re: VG-10 criticism: why?
If I’m going to pay a lot of money for a base model knife, might as well spend a little more to get something that holds an edge way longer (and by virtue of not needing to be sharpened as often, will last much longer). VG10 is fine, I think there is a lot to like about it, but at what base model ...

Re: SM 100 Nitinol for Spyderco
Fine edge holding similar to elmax, other than weight (and corrosion resistance) can’t see much of an advantage over current PM blade steel grades.

Re: Chinese Bonded diamond sharpening stones
Oooh, I was on a hunt for bonded diamond stones some months ago and back then there wasn't really any alternative to the Venevs, PDTs and Naniwas, especially when it came to cost.
I did get a Venev Centaur double sided 2"x8" stone which is pretty nice but quite soft and I didn't have a ...

Re: Why CPM 3V
So just checking on the chances of getting a Spyderco folder or fixed blade knife with CPM 3V steel? Would be great to know so I can decide on getting one through Spyderco or another company.
I would also really appreciate Spyderco putting some energy behind this steel. It is ultra strong ...

Chinese Bonded diamond sharpening stones
So I’ve been seeing a bunch of Chinese made whetstones hit the market that claim to be either some type of bonded diamond, diamond in a SiC matrix, or vitrified diamond (usually around $80-100). I’ve bought a couple from a brand called “kintif” (400 and 1000 grit) and managed to get hair whittling ...

Re: 6" Mule discussion.
There is a previous thread about a larger Mule Team that ended up with some prototypes being made and tested.. Thanx Al. There seems to be some interest in this being a larger version available. So with that thought in mind, I'm trying to determine if there is a path for a larger, 6" blade version ...

Re: What would be your dream knife?
A Magna-Max endura 4 (I love my K390 one, just wish it didn’t rust) or a spyderchef with a magna-cut or magna-max blade ground down to 0.010” BTE. The spyderchef is just about perfect for me aside from being a little thick behind the edge and not holding a crispy sharp edge as long as I would like.

Re: MagnaMax wish list
I’d want anything from the delica/endura family or from the stretch 2/leafjumper family. I think the seki knives being ground very thin behind the edge suits a steel like magna-max very well.

Re: Centofante 3 - New - Not pinned anymore !?
Strangly enough, not for the cru-wear sprint run. It’s about as thick a PM2 behind the edge. Hollow grind, I cannot tell.
As far as I know the Cruwear sprint has just a sabre grind, and a pretty low one too... for me this actually kills the perhaps most defining feature of the ...

Re: Centofante 3 - New - Not pinned anymore !?
I hope it’s still a hollow grind… and thin bte !!! Could you elaborate?
Yes, still hollow ground and still thin BTE. The blade came so sharp from the factory too, it cuts so nicely. Great knife.

Re: Temperance 2... in 15v?
Hi Carpdiem,
Probably a real long shot. It doesn't look like we are going to me able to get any more of Shawn's 15V and what we have has already been earmarked. If it were possible to squeeze in a sprint version of that model with a different steel, what would work for you? Perhaps to "seize ...
