Re: More Information On The GAUNTLET Sharpener yet??

Just saw BladeHQs video with Eric @ SHOT. The stones on the Gauntlet have an odd shape: part pointed, part elliptical. One nice thing about the Sharpmaker was the flats of the stones; one could stop short of having the tip slide off, which rounds it a little each time. That won't be possible on this...

Thanks guys.
First knife in general.
Have someone get you a sharpmaker for Christmas and keep that Maxamet sharp! (plenty of pointers to be found here on the forum)
^ This!

You may change your mind and sell some knives you buy, but a Sharpmaker is forever!

Re: Please help a British Bobby find his knife!

I bet a lot of Brits are carrying quietly; small slip joints. We sometimes kid in the US: they took away your guns in the UK, so now its knives, and now they're after knives too. Better to address the root cause of violent crime that to ban the tools of it. Human ingenuity will always come up with a...

Re: Spydie Chef vs Native 5 Salt. Which would you choose and why?

One thing I like to do is carry my Native or other EDC knife while out of the house, then switch to the chef when I get home and will start dinner. This may sound weird, but I've found that the Spydiechef encourages me to cook more, (so I get to put it to use) which in turn has helped my health. I d...

Re: Batoning, SMH...

I don't understand the need to EVER baton with a knife. To me, it's just a durability test for people who want to see how much abuse their knife can take.

As climber training, I would think there are other forms of exercise that would be better for one's fingers.

Re: Flicking backlocks - who does like it? And motivational post

I haven't been able to flick my Native open at all, much less with a finger.

Delica is better; I can thumb flick it.

While I can flick some of my lockbacks, it's not really rewarding, to me.

Balisongs and Axis locks are best here, I find.

Re: Your Delica 5

I'd like to see the tip not be rounded, and new ergos. If the finger grooves were shaped different, I could fit my hand on the knife. As it is, I can't. The first groove isn't big enough for both my index and middle finger, and the pinky groove is excessively large. With the Delica 3 and 4, and End...

Re: Para 3 vs paramilitary 2

Guess a better question would be is has anyone bought either one of these thinking,”man if it only had a blade in xxx steel it would be perfect”, yeah I know it’s a tall order subject to less than objective thinking but hey, such is life. Stainless means less to me than endurance. Greatly appreciat...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

The newly-arrived Native Max. I waited too long to get one, but now that I did, at least I've got a killer steel! Despite the blade's hardness, it only took a few minutes to put a finely-honed micro bevel on it, thanks to the excellent factory edge. Now it's screaming sharp and ready for many weeks'...

Re: Spydie Chef vs Native 5 Salt. Which would you choose and why?

Native, unless most of your EDC cutting is food. I have the Spydiechef and I love it, but the blade is quite wide for EDC. The thing I love about the Native is that the blade is smallish, (at least the cutting edge part) but the way it's gripped fills the hand. Eventually, you'll probably want a big...

Re: Tastes changing, Brouwer love

I'm finding the dame thing as I age. For my usually light duties, a 2-3" blade is fine, as long as it's nice and sharp. Now, I'm getting back into a bit bigger blades (3-3.5") because I'm sometimes getting caught without enough blade to cut up fruit sometimes. The key is that it has to be narrow in ...

Re: Kapara???

I want to add to my earlier post: I noticed while flipping my Kapara last night that I could feel the scale clicking against the frame when I pressed they lock. 'Seems I'd loosened the pivot a bit too much. Just out of curiosity, I tightened both sides down until they started to feel a bit snug, (wh...

Re: Help me pick a Spydie flipper, please

I didn't even know about the Smock before. It looks good, if a bit on the large side. I find myself not carrying my larger knives, these days. (Desk job) That has me leaning more toward the Mantra 2 and 3. The Mantra 2 had the slimmer pocket profile, but had some issues, which I'm not sure will ever...

Re: Help me pick a Spydie flipper, please

The ZT 0450 is a three finger knife for me. The CF laminate over G10 turned me off from the Domino and Dice for a long time. Now that I own both, I can tell you that they're awesome knives. The red/black and blue/black laminate CF are brighter than I've seen in the same colors with solid CF, plus t...

Re: Lil' Native Comp Lock – some thoughts after over 3 months of EDC

I've got a Native Maxamet inbound, and now you have me wondering if I shouldn't have gone for the Li'l.

It could be my Chicago carry, when I go into the city. Blade's big enough for everything I do except food prep, and when I do food prep, I'm usually in my kitchen.
