My dad's always had a serrated Spyderco since the early 90s. When I finally got a job that gave me Spyderco level disposable income and I could afford to stop buying CRKTs and Kershaw's. I went out and got a bog standard Endura 4 vg10 ffg

A early 90's Fat clip Delica. Didn't like it at first after carrying Buck 110's and Schrade LB7's for years but it grew on me and proved nigh on indestructible until i misplaced and lost it 30 years later.

I believe this should even be one of the olde sabre hollow grind versions - ?!

Imo clearly superior in performance over the current "just" sabre grind stainless steel handle Delicas / Enduras ...
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

Yes that one has a hollow grind.

Viele was my first. I was attracted to the micarta scales. I swear mine were dark brown, but wiki says they were black. The blade was the sharpest factory blade I'd ever seen.

Unlike most, my very first Spyderco wasn't a folder at all. It was a fixed blade.. an Ed Schemp Rock Salt sprint run.
I had many fixed blades at the time.. EK Commando, ESSE Junglas.. Timberline Spec War.

Most were heavy duty tactical blades. But when I saw the kukri
Style H-1 blade on the Rock Salt I instantly fell in love.. it was elegant and sleek. Unlike the 1/4 inch thick ESEE 5's and Browning FDX Trackers I was used to.
Where my Spec War was a sharpened Pry-bar, this was a fine instrument of performance
and perfection.. light and balanced. A chopper of elite status. To this day it remains one of my favorite blades.

Mine was the PM2 CTS-20CP sprint in 2011. The steel is equivalent to S90V, and I was chasing superior edge retention at the time. It was my only EDC for a number of years. It originally came with light gray G10 scales.

I replaced it with black scales after a few years. I learnt how to sharpen with the Edge Pro on it! Later I thinned out the grind considerably with a thin convex, and recently put a bevel on it again. For a few years it was my go-to knife to handle the recycling. It has been around the block!

My first Spydie was a Dragonfly 2 in ZDP-189 & British Racing Green FRN scales, which I picked up I think a decade ago or so.

Prior to getting it, I think my most "high performance" steel experience was with 154CM & my mind was absolutely blown by the raw edge retention of ZDP-189. It was my primary work knife (alongside my Leatherman Wave) until I picked up a Native 5 LW some time later. Still have it:

I remember my first few, can’t exactly remember which order I got them in, I was probably about 14-15 yrs old. I’m pretty sure the first one I got was a persistence in 8cr and g10, not the best lock for a lefty but I got used to it, thinking back I realize how good of a design it is, great size, ergos, price point for a first Spydie.. then I got a stainless grasshopper and a h1 PE dragonfly. I got all of them at a local army barracks store. all these knives have been lost for a while unfortunately .

Mine was a Native that I bought at Walmart for a little less than $40. Around 2009-ish.

If we are counting the Byrd line then it would be a Robin that I bought a few years earlier.

Thank you! I feel that I got my money's worth, but there is still a lot of life in it!

To be honest, this PM2 is barely broken in compared to some of the real hard users I've seen pictures of over the years.
