Finally got the Halpern Titanium jade handles for mine to do more comprehensive testing on wood, corrugated board, and other l things like linoleum tiles, and drywall. Testing the factory edge on live wood so far has been pretty good, but I'm thinking my typical 26-30 degrees inclusive and higher polish would work better, as this steel is relatively hard. At least mine is. Nearly dead on 65Rc with the Mitutoyo HR-200(unique analog dial Rockwell tester that's not like typical analog testers, works more like a digital, has 2 needles and several modes, 9-10k price range)at my work.
Unfortunately, they were supposed to send me 2 jade scales, and only sent me one jade set, and one digi camo set. I'm not a fan of camo colors, especially on knives, just my personal opinion. Double checked my order, made sure it was correct, it is, yet the packing slip says digi camo.
Anyone ever dealt with Halpern Titanium's customer service? Now I'm stuck waiting until Monday for hopefully a response, and hopefully they'll still have it as I have a 15V Mule on the way.

Yeah, that was my thought on everything. Which caused me to miss out on the official scales/sheath. With Halpern making the Spyderco ones, do their flat G10 ones typically fit the Spyderco sheaths?Evil D wrote: ↑Thu Sep 04, 2025 3:39 pmInfinite Zero wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 9:23 amI'm curious the percentage of buyers who got the sheath and scale kit along with their mule. With those both sold out alongside the mules, I am betting it was pretty high.
I have two sets of scales and 3 sheaths (two regular and one for the HIC Mule that required a special sheath). I just swap scales to whatever Mule I'm playing with at the time. It's nice to get it all at once and get free shipping but it also increases your risk of a slow checkout and missing out.
They also messed up my order and gave me one digi camo set, and one jade set, when I ordered 2 jade sets as I have a 15V Mule on the way to compare. Any experience with Halpern's customer service or if the scales will fit official Spydercos sheaths?
Also, did you only get SpydieEdge or did you also get plain? I only got plain, so far it's working about as expected, but I'm curious how it will act with my typical 26-30 degree inclusive edges. So far it's done well on live wood. But typically I take my knives to a higher polish, and harder knives with higher carbide volume (in my experience) tend to do better with wood, and slowly wear into more aggressive edges as time goes on and you maintain them on a wood strop with diamond emulsions/compounds of different micron sizes.

Yes, they're great. Don't worry, they'll make it right. Unfortunately they get swamped sometimes and it can be a while before they restock. When I ordered my scales for the MagnaMax Mule, a few minutes after the blade itself, I could see they were already low.Skylark427 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 06, 2025 5:10 pmAnyone ever dealt with Halpern Titanium's customer service? I got both edges but haven't had time to mess with the PE yet (and less than I'd like with SE too). I don't know about their flat scales working with the sheath, I've never had them. I plan to lower the bevel on my PE to my usual 13ish degrees per side and see how that goes and then micro bevel as needed.

What angle does everyone use on their mule?
I want to go to 15 degrees for a razor sharp edge but maybe is that to much ?

That's actually my thoughts as well, I was planning on lowering it to my typical range of 26-30 inclusive. With this steel being on the higher end of hardness (mine tested nearly dead on 65Rc with the Mitutoyo HR-200MS at work) I think it'll handle the lower angles and still be relatively stable. Thank you for your insight!Evil D wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 5:31 amSkylark427 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 06, 2025 5:18 pmYeah, that was my thought on everything. Alright, thank you for confirming for me. Hopefully they don't sell out of the ones I want by Monday, but I guess we'll see. At least I know now that they're good with their customer service, thank youCoastal wrote: ↑Sat Sep 06, 2025 10:05 pmYes, they're great. Don't worry, they'll make it right.
