The blue is indeed a friction folder i did some years ago :D . On small folder i used to used XC75 (more or less 1084) , O1, O2 tool steel. Now my regular steel are 115w8 (an old steel used to make metal saw before the time of HSS steel) and niolox (stainless steel with niobium). The 115w8 have a nice cutting power with his proportion of Wolfram, and the niobium give the same thing in the niolox. The two are easy to sharpen and keep sharp even if i keep some high hardness with a low tempering as for the straight razor.

Thiers Issard is one of the great straight razor brand and they make really cool razor in 135Cr2 a really good carbon steel :D . It's funny to see people to be more afraid by a straight razor than a knife :) . Straight razor a great shaving tool as knives are great daily too :D .

If you can fin some old straight razor from Sheffield UK for a good price, take them, they are often wonderful blade :D
That is very facinating. I've often wanted to try using some O1 or W2 on a folder. I've seen several custom knives in W2 that feature a beautiful hamon line near the edge. I think a hamon line would look absolutely amazing on your razors.

Gorgeous, gorgeous work. However I'd probably hurt myself very badly using one. I'd still love one though.

I use a razor with a straight edge. Is there any benefit to having an upswept edge for shaving?

It's more easy to cut (sideswipe???) with the spannish method :D . Straight or curve the result is more or less the same, but with the smile some movement are easier to do :D

The three continent together kamisori :D

The kamisori is a japanese straight razor (Asian Continent), the Spyderhole is licenced by Spyderco (america) and i'm french for the old europa :D
After to have missed the heat treatment of a niolox prototype i gave a try on those two in 115w8.
Differential hardening, omote with the 100mm wheel grind and ura with 200 mm wheel grind.

16 cm long with 5,5 cm sharp

The spyderehole is not useful, but it's a part of the design, it's not a problem to hone the straight or to use. To clean it's not a problem at all, 1s under the water, and you dry the kami.

Pretty cool that you actually shave with your own blades. I'm sure your face tells the true story of how well your work is.

Thank you for looking and all the feed back about the design are welcomed and if you have idea about what you would enjoy to see as straight razor with spyderhole, material, design. I'm open to all suggestion :) . That is a way i want to continu to explore
Those blades and handles are gorgeous. I have started using a straight razor recently and along with that I've been thinking about buying old razors on ebay and restoring them as a hobby. Yours really look good. Cay you tell me where to get handle material, pins or screws and anything else you use? I use a knife supply site for making handles on knives but a selection of materials for straight razors may be more specific on other sites. I appreciate any info you can provide. Again, your razors are nice. Do you sell them?

Hi. Long time i've not read you :) . I improved a bit my work :D

Jackknifeh, the thin g10 i use is from usaknifemaker. You can fin almost everything you need at that shop. You have knifekit too and some other. If you want to restaure old straight, you won't be able to use screw and pivot, you will need to buy some brass or steel rod (i use mainly nail for steel rod) and annealed brass rod i buy to the meter in do it yourself shop :D

For the wood, that is the stock i have for knifekaming :) , a lot of the block i have are from various trade :D
