A few years ago my cousin was arrested in Manhattan for carrying a Spyderco. An undercover cop noticed his pocket clip. The cop clumsily kept trying to get the knife to open as a gravity knife and, when he couldn't, he opened it with two hands. It really ruined an otherwise great night out. My advice is to leave the knife at home, it just isn't worth the hassle.

Sorry to hear man, this is definitely one of the things I have been talking about. Anyone who thinks this type of law enforcement behavior is confined to NYC. Think again.Grendelspyce wrote:A few years ago my cousin was arrested in Manhattan for carrying a Spyderco. An undercover cop noticed his pocket clip. Hello everyone. Interesting thread. When will places like New York City get a reverse on all these nonsense anti knife laws? Can we look forward to this or is it too late? I mean, will I be able to wake up some morning and turn on the news and see it stated that "Law abiding New York City and New Jersey residents can legally carry any locking folding knife or one hand opening knife or fixed blade they want, as long as they do not go seeking to attack others"? Or will knife bans continue?

I ask because a friend of mine points to the fact that some states in the union have joined with Knife Rights and have reversed such anti knife laws. He said "This shows us hope that anti knife bans can be dissolved." and he optimistically thinks even Washington DC, New York City, and Los Angeles and other places, in the near future, will end all anti knife laws. I told him I am more "pessimistic" but is there room for his wishes and hopes to come true on this, or, are most politicians going to push anti knife laws?

My guess would be it will have to get much worse before it will get better.SpyderEdgeForever wrote:I ask because a friend of mine points to the fact that some states in the union have joined with Knife Rights and have reversed such anti knife laws.
