I just ordered a Khurkuri from Poor Fish as well at the great price. I put one on my holiday wish list, but I received 'indications' that it wasn't yet purchased, so I pulled the trigger while the good price was still available. (I did ascertain that the other Spydie on my wish list, the Meercat, was ordered :-)

The Khukuri still finds its way in my pocket from time to time. I love the folder, even as a lefty. Too bad it's been discontinued, I think the folder should evolve into a 'thinner' design. The washers and the handle liners could be a little thinner, I think. This would be a more refined version.

My other thoughts on the khukuri can be found here.

I bought two at the clearance price because it was just too good to pass up. I've been EDC one ever since. The only thing I don't like about it is that the clip rides on one of the scale screws. Was there no way to move the screw just a tad during design so that it wasn't right underneath the clip? I've been considering trying to find a screw that will fit flush with the scale.

I just received my Khukuri today and it is AWESOME! I can't believe so much knife fits in such a small package. And it is SHARP!!! At first the liner lock was tough to open, but I soon realized I was operating it incorrectly. (The better/right way is to apply pressure to the half-moon lip and not the narrow tip.)

I sincerely doubt I'll ever get bored with Spyderco knives!

Regards,
Ira

I've had mine since it first came out. The only mild criticism I have is that it is too small for my likes. A 25-35% increase in blade size would be just about perfect for me............

Bump. :)

So, without trying to sound like an opportunistic weasel here, what do you all think the odds would be to see a Sprint run on the good ol' Khukuri?

It seems like it is still a very popular design... :)

What say you?

Prob not great :( . No knock to Ed but it was/is probably his least appreciated and understood design. A loyal following though.

You might be able to snag one still at a decent price. It's not the unicorn hunt that the Barong is luckily. Goodluck friend!

Too busy right now to find and requote (as I have before), but Sal himself has mentioned on forum that they hope to bring back both Barong and Khukuri.

Fingers crossed!

I'll look for the quote later tonight.

Blerv,
You're right about that. :( I've begun to realize that the Barong is about a rare as hen's teeth. I've seen a few on the 'Bay, but normally for eye-gouging "buy it now" prices. I'll keep my eyes peeled...

Thanks for the encouragement, Feed_the_animals! :) So it seems like there might be a little light at the end of the tunnel after all. ;)

I sure hope they do. Great designs and the Khukuri is totally under appreciated.

I would look for that one. The Barong is definitely more loved but it doesn't pack a 3.5" blade into a Delica handle :) . Different knives for sure.

OK finally found that quote. It was August 2010.

I too really hope for a sprint of Barong and Khukuri each. Especially Khukuri as I never hooked into one of those. Handled one and had the chance but was too responsible to pull the trigger. In retrospect, it was only money.
