you will not be dissapointed with crank bros. their build quality is superb. I have used their pedals for two seasons now and love them :cool:Sequimite wrote:A P60 SOG Powerlock and a Crank Bros. multi-tool for the bike on the way.
Multi tools
I voted carry one all the time. (More accurate would be carry one while on the clock)
SOG Power Assist B66-N every day at work for me. 2 associates instantly upgraded their cheaper Leatherman and bought the same after fondling my SOG. The assisted opening blades seem to be a big hit.
I pretty much only use it for the pliers, stripper, crimp and blades.
Best price I've found has been Amazon:

These may be old discontinued models. I think the only difference is that the P60 has scissors and the P62 has a seatbelt cutter. I'm not on top of the current model numbers.angusW wrote:Sequimite, I'm not too familiar with SOG's naming scheme, but I've never heard of a P62. Don't the Powerlock's use S, B and T?
Our reason is quite satisfied, in 999 cases out of every 1000 of us, if we can find a few arguments that will do to recite in case our credulity is criticized by someone else. Our faith is faith in someone else's faith, and in the greatest matters this is most the case.

Multitools... well I never really use them even if I've had one near by. I always have the right tools on hand.

Where can these be picked up?
I have a verying collection of multi-tools. A few Gerbers, Leathermans, and some no names.
Even the no names as cheap as they are have their uses.

+1 Multitools
Hi:
I lug the Leatherman Charge Ti. I mainly use the screwdrivers. It complements the Paramilitary D2 pretty well.
I sometimes carry the Leatherman Skeletool when I want to go light.

Don't carry on belt or pocket ever. Have at least one in every vehicle and a couple "pre need replacements." Whenever I have a pack or bag and am not flying, I also carry. Favorite is Leatherman Crunch--although mine is currently AWOL (I have two pre teen sons,....). Vise-grip like pliers are so beyond most else out there. I was a huge fan of the original Wave and also vehemently dislike the flat bits. Yuck. Bits that I can't replace at any hardware store are a complete waste for me. I have a USA Spyderench that I don't carry, but I think it is the absolute coolest ever made.
"Keep one at home"
make that "keep one in the car".
Leatherman original Super Tool, big brother of the PST, still with the old school leather pouch. From '96 or '97 AFAIR, I'd have to go to my car and check the handle to make sure :)
It is still one of the "old", all metal, no-fuss, pretty heavy, indestructable multitools that made Leatherman what it is nowadays. Good enough for me!
Use it every now and then, not too often, but I am glad I have it when I do need it then.

SOG Powerlock with a Fenix AA light in a Leatherman combo sheath daily. Powerlock is the first one I haven't broken beyond repair (but it is not from a lack of trying).

I also have the original Leatherman supertool. I've been thinking about getting a newer sexier models but this thing just won't quit. It's been going strong for over 10 years and there're a few things I had to fix. I broke the small flat head bit so I reground it, the wire cutter part is a bit chewed up and the knife was resharpened a few times. Not bad at all.

EDC Pocket folder multi-tool knife
I an EDC type roll, I like lightweight. I find the screwdrivers are the the part of a multi-tool I personally use the most so I usually carry a lightweight Alox Victorinox along with another folder with a 3" or less blade. (usually Spyderco).
If Spyderco came out with a lightweight pocket sized Multi-Tool / Swiss Army style knife I think it would be a big hit.
Maybe something like a thinner, lighter version of the Leatherman Expanse e33T with G10 slabs or possibly something about the size of the Urban Slipit with a fold out screwdriver, maybe a bottle opener too... with a Bryd Wings style fold out.
As long as it was kept fairly thin and lightweight I'd be all over it.

You need to add an "In my kit bag" option.

I've been pondering the idea of getting the TTi with the S30V blade and replacing my dedicated knife altogether. Is the blade on the TTi good enough to do that? (My assumption is automatically "no," but I've gotta ask...)
