Although my very favorite is and will be Spyderco, I have a few other knives I like. For instance, certain models by Victorinox (those who have a decent amount of gizmos - a corkscrew and a can opener toghether with the blade is enough for me).
I also grew pretty fond of my Benchmade 32 - so far it was the only Benchmade made after my own taste, and Spyderco will never make a locking balisong anyway, so I don't feel too guilty.

The mind commands the body and it obeys. The mind orders itself and meets resistance.
any "next" favorite usually costs more.
Myself,in order to get the same sense of quality fit and finish equal to Spyderco, I'll spend more. Then I'm afraid to touch them because they're so **** expensive i.e. WilliamHenry, Pat Crawford, Randal, Kressler, etc. From a collector's point of view, no problem, protect the investment. From a knife user's point of view, like having a very beautiful wife and no penis. So the models I EDC (aka destroy), are used duplicates or seconds of the vestal virgins kept secreted away in that enigmatic moisture proof case where a knife is only a concept, never to be used; a cornucopia of unrealized potential...(sniff).
I have a small smattering of others, but they’re rarely used. I still have my faithful BM 750 Pinnacle, the old recurve blade framelock, which was one of their best IMO. I also have 2 or 3 Kershaws, 2 Beckers, 2 CRKT’s, some of the Cherusker-Messer LLC series (Bram Frank’s latest), 3 of the Camillus CUDA fixed blades and an older Allen Folts custom fighter. Wow, I have a lot of knives.
The Spyderco collection outnumbers all of those put together by about 2-1. They’re pretty much all I use on a regular basis. It’s just a matter of familiarity for me. I used to use all kinds of different brands, but it would sometimes throw me off when I’d reach for a hole and find a stud or vice-versa. Now, it’s really quite simple.

42 Spyderco fixed blades and counting...

Definitely Kershaws. My other source of high quality boutique runs. Thomas W. learned his job well here, amongst other companies in a long carreer in the industry. He's a **** good guy too. Joe
