And specifically in Canada, Le Baron is the only online dealer that I have found to have prices competitive with the U.S. stores. (Warriors & Wonders gouges on shipping.)

They can be difficult to order from, since you are essentially ordering from their catalogue and have no idea what they actually have in stock, but the prices are good.

I also recommend TNK for custom knives.

Joshua, you should call Warriors & Wonders for their shipping charge. The website shipping costs are not correct.

New Graham is my primary dealer and handles my CC account. Have also had pleasant dealings with Island Tactical, Knifecenter, YouWantIt2, with John F. Jensen for discontinued models, and with Santa Fe Stoneworks for customized Kiwis. :D

Has anyone used GWknives.com? i found a few good things there, but hadn't heard of them before, so i am a little wary of buying from them

Grindstone Cutlery

For my hard earned dollar I can't find anyone better than Mike at Grindstone cutlery (grindstonecutlery.com). They don't keep an online catalog but if you call them they can get you anything and everything. Best customer service I have ever had in the cutlery world and if you are in the neighborhood his store is something else!

I go to school in Baltimore, MD, and when I order from Knifecenter.com I always get it the very next day. I've ordered for NGK and they are very good, as well as A.G. Russell (they might take longer for shipment though). I had a very negative experience with 1stopknifeshop, and will not order from them again. As for ebay, just take a look at the seller's feedback rating. If they are 98 percent or better, I trust them.

I think KnifeCenter and BlueLinegear are the best.

New Graham, Knifecenter and most recently:
****Sierra Trading--just bought a Navigator PE from them that was on sale for $39.95. Excellent service-knife perfect. Went on line today and noticed they dropped the price again-now $31.96. I called customer service to see if they would refund me the difference- since I ordered my Navigator on the 6th. Told they cannot refund the difference-"since it has been a week"
But, they gave me a $10.00 credit towards my next purchase.
Since price of this knife price was so low to begin with I am happy with their giving me this credit.
Would definately buy from them again.

I do a fair bit of business with STP and have always found them to have superior customer service. And while I don't think of them as a 'knife retailer' per se, the $72- Yojimbo was too good to pass up.

For actual knife retailers, I don't think you can go wrong with New Graham knives, Knifeworks, Knives Plus, Knifecenter, or Grand Prairie Knives. A lot of other businesses don't actually keep much stock, and don't maintain a current inventory, so if you order something hard-to-find your chances of being charged for a perennial backorder are greatly increased.

Savson Swords & Knives is a good example of this type of business. My preference when dealing with such companies is to call in my order to insure items are in-stock before giving payment information, but Randy has recently gone to a 'web only' format--now if a knife you order is out-of-stock your only option is to send repeated e-mails for him to ignore and hope he doesn't charge your card up front. On the other hand, if your order is in stock it should ship right out... so, are you feeling lucky?

Several of the above have given superb service. I guess I'm lucky. No horror stories to report.

Another dealer I have had very good luck with is soonerstateknives.com.

I also had a very good experience with Grindstone Cutlery. I got a blue PE Dodo from mike earlier this year. Last one. ;)

Most of my other spydercos have come from New Graham....and a couple from the store in Golden :)

I used to use wildeals: then David became suddenly uncommunicative, his eBay feedback took a huge dive and he quit eBay. I consider him terribly unreliable now.

So far I've purchase all my Spydies on ebay from various dealers. My recent purchase of an Ocelot from Spydie Guys impressed me the most. I had the knife in hand in 3 days.

The one time I tried to buy from an online store was from Wildeals (directly from his web site). I ordered a Dodo, when it said he had 3 in stock. Three or four days later I got an email saying there was an inventory mistake and they were out of stock. I was disappointed, but he did refund my money.

However, I started watching the knives from Wildealz, on ebay. The prices were great, but there were a lot of people that never got their knives, and did not get a response from him. Not only that, but when the buyer left negative feedback (not getting the item you paid for is a pretty good reason to do that, in my opinion), he would also leave negative feedback saying "Don't bother with this one"! I think that showed a lack of class, and it lost my trust in them.

I have used Spydieguys on ebay and direct from their website...they are very good
http://myworld.ebay.com.au/spydieguys
http://www.spydieguys.com

I have also bought from Qknives, who were very cheap and effcient
http://www.qknives.com

My last order was from knife center, which hasn't arrived yet.

Please note that I am in Australia, so I'm impressed when companies actually post their wares to the otherside of the world!

No on Spydieguys

#38

Post by ControlsGuy »

Let me put in a negative on Spydieguys. I placed a ebay order with them a week ago. When I did not get a 'order shipped' email, I asked what the problem was. It took two emails to get a response. They said they had not gotten their shipment from Spyderco. So basically, they sold sold an item on ebay that they did not have.

They make a big deal on their ebay listings, that they ship as soon as payment is received. Not.

I don't plan to order from them agian.

Both of these shops fell into the same uncomunicative / unreliable - borderline scam type shops recently... various feedback across the interweb, from customer experience.
