I'm an admirer of Spyderco's designs. Using them is like immersing yourself in music or studying a painting in a museum. I buy some "fine" art but my preference is for usable art.

The Lava looks awesome! I'm new to the Forum so I have a couple of questions prompted by this thread:

Where can I find the Lava's specs? And am I reading correctly that Forum particpants can order new models early--and, if so, how does that work?

Thanks. And congrats to the new Lava owners!

Check the good online dealers: New Graham knives, Knifecenter, etc.
The knife they are referring to is the Forum Knife, a special edition engraved for Spyderco's forum members. Unfortunately, the pre-order ended in, what, May? So I don't have one coming to me. They will not be impossible to find on the aftermarket, just very difficult. However, there is still solace in waiting for the announcement of the 2007 forum knife! (SUPERHAWK)
Hope this helps.
Ask me where I got my awesome SUPERHAWK!

More like Mid-Cal now

Cool pics of a very cool knife. Congrats on the early arrival.

I can't wait till I get mine...

And although I don't usually EDC any SS spydies, if it fits my hand the way I think it will I will have to order another just to carrry :D

Same thing here. CF scales (and maybe wireclip) en route for my pimped EDC Lava ;)

Most times(not always) those in the Spyderco Collectors Club get the first run of knives before the rest of us. It's an expensive commitment, as you are obligated to buy the knives, it's not optional. It's quite worth it if you can afford it. It's got two tiers of membership. One in which only new models are purchased, and a second which includes all variants of the models(this is the expensive one, by all variants I mean all colors and edge types as well)

So far, only one of us has one(that I know of), and the rest are extremely jealous :p

I have begun to look longingly at the UPS guy, as he barrels down my street, just hoping upon hope, that he will stop in front of MY house, and bring me my beloved Forum Lava. But alas, he has not stopped......Sigh!

But alas, he has not stopped......Sigh! I get excited when I hear the UPS truck coming, I perk up, then he barrels on by, stopping off at my QVC addicted neighbors' house instead. Oh where, oh where could my poor Lava be?

The Lava's were for sale at the Denver Knife Show this weekend, I think they had 4.
