I have paid up to $2500 for a knife, but most of the time it seems that around $800 or so is the most I like to pay.

I can't really picture a knife that I would have a use for that would cost more then $200.00. I would say less, but I'm leaving room for what the super hawk bill may cost. I used to think I was collecting Spyderco's but have used all but the forum DiAlex Adventura ( I did carry this one to church once :p ); I will have to buy a user. I even kept the waved endura in it's box for months but, truly, what is the point?

It depends... on my money-situation, and the "need" for said knife. I like my spyders at the moment, but before I got these I already thought I had the "perfect" workknife, + EDC. Guess I was wrong.

I cant see myself paying more than 200 € though, I'd be too scared to lose it, let alone use it. Unless I win the lottery sometime :o .

If I actually had a job that paid a cash wage  , I could see a $500+ purchase for a custom, I have paid that before, well before Auggie (my son that is). I do have a Elishewitz on order that I basically paid for in advance, that was when .......I had a job that paid a cash wage. For factory knives (Spyderco only thank you very much) $125 max, that is I would pay $125, if I had a job with a cash wage. :D :D . I do get to raise my son, better than any knife :) , nice to have toys though ;) .

The most I've spent so far is $450 for a limited edition Sebenza. It was definitely worth it too. I have bought two other Sebenzas. One small classic and a large regular. I had no hesitation either. In my opinion they are worth it to me. But that's me. I have put in an order with Bob Lum for a custom knife that will be around $700 but it will be two years before he can start on it. He makes some beautiful knives.

Severedthumbs, That is one awsome knife! But, it makes my point, for me at least. The occasion would be so rare for me to carry a knife like that, that I might as well spend the money on several :spyder: 's that I would actually use. if I put one scratch on a knife like that I'd be pi$$ed for, well, a long time.
As others have said, if $ were no object, I would almost certainly have several thousand in various knives  .
By the way, how much would something like that cost?

$100-$150

I voted "$100" because so far, that is the most I have paid, and have been willing to pay, for a knife (my two UKPKs). I mention up to $150 because when I can afford it, I plan to buy a Lil Temperance. Yet, most of my knives have been in the $35-$70 range. I can't imagine a knife that I would spend over $100 on (except the aforementioned lil temperance or MAYBE the Benchmade Presidios) just because my knives get so much light use. :)

I voted $200 which is the most that I am willing to pay for any Spyderco that I have seen so far. For a large camp blade I might be willing to pay a little bit more than that, but probably not more than $300. A custom would be a different animal. So as long as Spyderco doesn't offer a custom......

I am not a collector and thankfully Spyderco offers such great knifes for so little money (just look at the new Delica/Endura 4) I really don't see the need.

If we're talking Spydies, I don't think I've ever gone much over $100 and will probably never need to -- you can get a lot of knife for that money. If we expand the category to include small shop, semi-production knives (William Henry, Strider, etc.), I've got a few in the $175 to $400 range. Full out custom? I've spent $1,100 but don't anticipate breaking the $1k mark again any time soon.

I'll pretty much pay whatever. If it's something I want bad enough, then the sky's the limit.

It depends!

On Spydies the limit is about $200,= For some reason I don't care much for the (expensive) disco'd ones.
Next one will be the new Ocelot I think.

But I just bought a Lone Wolf Tactical Folder with the micarta scales for 299 euros (approx. $360,=), shipping and customs included. Those are very hard to find on the internet. Delivery will be next week... ;)

Next substantial purchase (will be around the month of june) is probably gonna be the MT MTX2 auto with micarta scales
