What's the most you're willing to pay for a knife?

This is one poll that I don't think has ever been done. At least not that I remember. We always have polls asking which features we like in a knife, but no one ever asks the million dollar question(sorry for the pun ;) ) of whether or not you're willing to pay the realistic price for those cool features we all want.

So here's the question. What's the maximum amount you'd be willing to spend on a Spyderco knife. (We're talking about street price here, the actual amount of money you're going to have to shell out)

I chose $200, but I don't want to ever say "never"! I like knives and could pay more, but it's highly unlikely.

To you designers - don't let this stop you from creating irresistible new knives! :D

I severely doubt any production model will ever have "exactly" what I want. My tastes are just too far removed from the "tactical / practical" for expect Spyderco to cater to them. On top of that, I freely admit that my "must have" steel will NOT make it cut any better. However, in the event such a miracle were to occur, the sky's the limit.

Spyderco or not.... I have a fairly addictive personality. I got into knives when I stopped using chewing tabacco. All my addictive energy goes into collecting, buying and selling knives. If I see a knife and I want it, I will do what it takes to have it. Poor impulse control you could say, and cost is just not a factor if I got to have it! Insane yes but a whole lot healthier than chewing!!! :)

I like my custom knives, and I have one on order that is $625 and worth every penny! I am saving for it. I have another on order that is also going to be about $600. I LOVE my knives.

I chose "It Depends" because the features of the knife make a huge difference in what I'm willing to pay. For a good production knife, my usual price point is in the range of $100, and I have spent more (Ti ATR) and much less (Native III). So far, I have not considered spending over $200 for a Spyderco. In fact, I can't recall seeing a Spyderco for that. At this time, I am considering a Chinook and a Manix, both very fine knives and both well below $200 retail. If it were truly spectacular and met a perceived need or strong desire, I suppose I might consider a Spyderco over $200, but at that point, I also start thinking of customs and very high end production (WH, CR).

$200, but I have paid more! (for a PE CF Civilian) I probably won't pay much more than $150 now.

"It Depends". I put a lot of thought and research into a knife before I buy it. I have to know as much as possible about it, and it has to meet my needs. As far As Spyderco Goes, I know the quality and service they offer. If I like It, I buy it. The Off-Brands are where are the research goes. Many times, I've seen, liked, bought, and was very disappointed. This has been my experience with buying on impulse, especially with "Off-Brand/High Quality Knives". Like I said, now I research, ask many questions, and if all possible try to find one, and handle it. Strange....I know, but We All Want What We Pay For, especially if we're going to Shell Out that That Cash That We've All Worked So Hard For. Take Good Care All.

God Bless :)

I said I would pay up to $100, but $150 is closer to the truth. Thats about my limit, it makes me cringe to think of paying $200 for a pocket knife  but thats just my stand

50$. I have spend a bit more in the past, maybe ten bucks more, but not recently. Thats one reason why I like the Byrd models so much. They've enabled me to get a "close to a stainless Endura" (Cara Cara) and a "close to a Merlin or Civilian" (Crossbill)

Depends on the knife. I just spent $200 for a Forum Military.
But it was the last one I needed to complete the set. :D :D

I have paid a lot more for a true custom made to my specs one-of-a-kind.

Hmmm... my most recent purchases were a C83 Persian & a C102 Adventura.
With shipping, I paid in the mid 70 dollar range for each so... I guess my answer would be less than $100. ;)

I'd pay up to 700-800 if its a knife that I really want.

But then again I'm single, work full time, debt free and lack any common sense. :)
