Just love this thread, but it makes me feel very old, and at the same time priveledged to have had the toys that I did. It was my kids that had Lego, Playpeople and Cindy dolls. (Now I know what you're thinking, but no, I did not play with dolls as a kid !)

I think it was Deacon who mentioned Dinky toys. I had plenty of these, and played the paint off them. I wish I had kept them NIB. Have you seen the prices of these today ? I did keep a few of the military Dinkeys. Oh, we also had Matchbox cars. Do they still exist ?

Near to where I work is a toy museum. This is a real nostalgia trip for me, as they have most of the toy cars that I had.

LOL!!! Hey, and them shuriken were "the good ones"...hard plastic w/o a safety ring around 'em! Swords OTOH, bent very easily... :(

God bless
Yeah, the swords would bend right at the hilt, and eventually snap off completely. I used to make my own out of branches. Carved what I thought looked like a samurai sword with a SAK.

I've still got one lying around the house somewhere, looks like crap ;)

I think this is one of THE best threads I have seen here. Excellent work Dodge :) :) :)

I can't believe no one has said TONKA Toys. You know the all metal trucks and construction equipment...still have scars :)
G.I. Joes had to be my favourite...I just took the boxes from my parents house this summer and stored them in my garage for Lucas when he gets older.
He-Man was also one I really liked.
Lego for sure as well, probably the best toy out there. I can remember when Space Lego was the in thing
And of course Guns, there was about 8 kids in my neighbourhood so we always played guns...ALWAYS.
I was an only child till I was 7 so, as you can well imagine a bit spoiled.

My brother was into Ninja Turtles and all the newer Legos(pirates, Robin hood types) Transformers, so I did play with his stuff a bit though I was getting older at that point.

Construx...forgot all about them :)

Again great thread!!!!

I've got a couple big boxes of toys... TMNT, Transformers, matchbox... still have my Tonka dumptruck from when I was about 3-4.

1. Lego - the best "use your imagination" toy ever.

2. Action figures - G.I. Goe, Transformers, M.A.S.K., Voltron

3. Toy guns of all kinds - Dart guns, rubber pellet guns, disk shooters, squirt guns, and all sorts of cap guns. Later, the trusty Red Rider BB gun. :)

BTW, If anybody's interested in old original Transformers cartoons, I have every episode ever released in the US and Japan on VHS (something like 190 some episodes?). I don't really know what their worth, but PM me if your interested.
I don't know why I did it, I don't know why I enjoyed it, and I don't know why I'll do it again.

Did any one who had Legos ever build the picture on the box? I was apart of the Lego fan club, But they never picked my cool things to print in the magazine, So I don't think of them as one of my favorite child hood toy  :D

until last year my NES was still hooked up to the TV... now my sister has it for her kid.

played WAY too many hours of Duck Hunt and Zelda(finished the gold Zelma game 2x before it got too easy)... not to mention Double Dragon and Swords & Serpents.

I was pretty good at duck hunt :p
