The Spyderco Johnny Liao 30 Pacer Prototype...

#1

Post by Red Leader »

So...

Are we ever going to see this one? I'm aware of the 100 Pacer, but I think this one, as a slightly smaller version, is really cool.

What is the story behind this one? Did this one get played around with and voted down?

I think a compression lock version of this, with a slightly better choil-type separation in the handle where you hold it when it's open, could be awesome. I'm always looking for knife designs that are thoughtfully designed around bridging the edge/handle gap as efficiently as possible.

Thoughts?

…and a choil design something like this ->

Spyderco had a prototype in the case at BLADE Show. From what I remember, it had the same milling pattern on the scales as the 100 Pacer, it was just smaller.

I'd love to see the 30 Pacer go into production at some point. I loved the look and feel-in-hand of the Hundred Pacer the few times I was able to handle one at my local authorized dealer but never got around to getting one when it was still in production, mostly due to its folded size—it is honking huge in the pocket.

Hundred Pacer is definitely one of my favorite Spydercos that I own. I'm a sucker for persian blades and a mini me version with a comp lock would be sicckkk. I know we had the Rhino most recently but it didn't scratch that itch for me personally.
