Has there been a recent change to the MAP policy, or to how it's enforced?

Several dealers that used to advertise at MAP but would sometimes sell lower through add to cart/user login/make an offer, now no longer appear to allow this.
Rumor has it some dealers are whining about it and invoking Spyderco to slap the dealers that offer discounts hands. Kinda irritating honestly. I assume that’s why wmk codes quit working too.

That's very irritating. I'd love to say a few words about the whiny dealers but I'd prefer being able to post here in the future.

I'll just say, MAP sucks. It always has, always will.

I would love to see retailers scrutinize every inch of the minimum advertised pricing policy and find clever ways to exploit the gray areas in the policy.

For example - sell me a PM2 at full MAP but then also give me a rebate for the 15% difference between 25% and 40% off MSRP. Whether that's in violation or not, I don't know, but I also have ZERO shame in benefiting from a retailer selling me a knife below the MAP. :beaming-face

Hi @sal

I received my Mule Team sheath today and want to give some feedback. The team did a wonderful job getting my order mailed quickly. The red and black paper packing material is a nice touch. And I got a separate email thanking me for my purchase. A very classy thing to do, and very Spyderco. THANK YOU!

Agree. And what is really annoying is that, as I understand it, MAP was supposed to *protect* smaller retailers! Instead, they were the ones looking for ways around it, and the big players are the ones whining about enforcing it.

It would seem it might be time for Spyderco to reevaluate the issue.

Please take a moment and consider what it might be like on the other side of the fences trying to come up with solutions to all of thee "be fair" rules. Trying to please all of the people all of the time.

Thanks. Frustrating but I guess ultimately not too surprising with all the back and forth about MAP over the last several years.

To Sal's comment, I appreciate how this could be a tricky situation to navigate for all parties involved. As an end-line consumer I guess I would ask for the same thing I aim for in planning at my job - "lead time and stability."

In this case, I was expecting that the next price increase would be at the annual bump in January, and that I had until the end of the year to see how the holiday budget shook out and then pick up another couple SPY27 models by New Years. So, effective pricing changes two months before I was expecting mess with that a little.

Probably still pick up the SPY27 Endela but will have to wait and see about any others.

Been carrying K390 Endelas and SPY27 Sage 5 and UKPK a lot recently and need to get some SPY27 in the Endela now. 👍

I would like to see MAP change to a tier system, once something hits a certain age a dealer can mark it down. I feel like some dealers are punished for buying less popular models.

I scored my 2026 Spyderco calendar today, heck I just ordered it too lol. I also got me one of the Travel Ti cups, been trolling those for a while now and just never pulled the trigger for whatever reason.

Guys, this Travel Ti is one really nice piece of double walled Titanium in a very sturdy usable cup. Here is a pic of it and my Ed Schempp-Rock for size comparison.

Anyone else have a Ladybug on their keychain? Not a manly concept, I realize, but it's one of the few consistencies in my life :). The only time it creates a problem is that I have to remember to take a different set of keys into Lumen Field.

The Ladybug on my keychain is my most carried and also least used knife. :rofl There has been some version of Ladybug on my keys for nearly a decade now though.

Really? I use mine all the time. I seem to need a knife one way or another every day, but I frequently forget to put one in my pocket. Thus, the Ladybug coming to the rescue. I keep it razor sharp - you'd be surprised how much that little thing can do.

I've tried it with my Manbug, I just can't get on board with the extra bulk on my keychain!

I totally agree, they're very capable little knives. I've used them plenty over the years, I just rarely reach for my keychain Ladybug over my primary carry. I would probably forget to pocket my keys before I forgot to pocket my knife, so my keychain knife truly is a 'just in case' backup in that regard.

I have a manbug and the car key fob hooked together. And my house keys separate. If I’m in the car I have a letter opener lol. But mostly drive the truck with something in the pocket.

@TkoK83Spy how are you liking your blacked out Lil' Native LW? Btw every one I've seen (including the one at the Seconds Sale) in the DLC has had that identical lockbar drop yours has.

Well dang, that's pretty unfortunate. I wonder why that is? As for mine, no issues in use and that's what counts! I do like it though, great little knife that hasn't left my pocket at home besides when I decide to carry it at work too. $100 well spent.

I did for years but recently switched to the G10 Grasshopper and I prefer it over a Ladybug for having more edge length in a thinner package that doesn't clump on my keys as much. For the random things I use it for, the steel is pretty adequate.

I use it primarily at work which is a no knife zone and nobody ever gives it a second look.

Thanks, I always like an excuse to buy a new knife!
