I'm not sure it's safe to assume any additional usage/license is automatically granted. That's why I'm asking.
Does the simple act of posting an image to the forum or for a calendar automatically grant all other possible usage/licenses? Unless the forum signup terms state that, I would guess not, but it's best to be sure. That is one advantage of having explicit submissions for each use. While it may be doubtful anyone who is a member of the forum would have an issue with that additional usage, that is an unsafe assumption when dealing with the potential future estate of that individual. I don't want to rain on the parade, but also don't want Spyderco exposed to any unnecessary risk.

That's for the calendar contest, however. This is for the photo of the week thread, which does not have that "fine print"...Mushroom wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 10:04 amSubmitting images for the calendar contest requires surrendering your intellectual property rights to the submitted photo.TimButterfield wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 9:22 amI'm not a lawyer, but am a former aspiring pro photographer and former ASMP/PPA member, where I learned a few things about this. You're correct but, in my defense, I was responding to a question that explicitly asked about images submitted to the calendar contest.SpyderPhreak wrote: ↑Wed Oct 01, 2025 3:17 pmThat's for the calendar contest, however. Re: Spyderco Photo of the Week - Book
Well, I just submitted my handful of images. I thought I had posted more of them in the POTW thread, but many were just in the general forum, and MANY others over on BladeForums. Oh well, some of my best work were posted elsewhere, too bad.
Hope the project comes to fruition and many more images get submitted. I'll admit, gathering all the required information was a little bit of work, but I do think it's better to spread it out over all the submittals vs. have TazKristi do it all instead.
Come on folks, gets those submissions in!

Haven’t won yet so still waiting and trying to get a photo good enough to win. Then I’ll submit one.SpyderPhreak wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 3:47 pmWell, I just submitted my handful of images. Re: Spyderco Photo of the Week - Book
Fun opportunity!
I’ve gone and looked through some of my photos from the thread, saved them to my phone and was going to submit them. But the requirement for the link has me a bit stumped.
Kristi, can you explain a bit more what you’re wanting there? Is it a link to where the image was hosted, or the page number from the weekly contest thread?

The link is to the forum post where the image was originally shared. I hope this helps.
