Hi everyone, a sneak peak at the second folder, titanium linerlock too but with several heating cycles on the lockface and carbidizing.

Look forward seeing the final stage ! Buddy Dan

Here's the second ! M390 blade (freakin hard even at 60 HRC, Imma start stonewasing or beadblasting some blades in a near future :zany )

Indonesian Akasia, looks like Koa but different colors. Titanium linerlock again, rolling on bronze beryllium washers with heat cycling on the lockface and carbidizing.

Logo was added too.

Thanks everyone, did miss a few comments @Cycletroll @zenith2 .

Thanks Dan, this is a Curly wood so in real life it has a lot of shimmering (I think that's the term), similar to Ringed Gidgee :open-grin (Speaking of gidgee @standy99 I finally sourced some, we'll see it sooner than later )

Thanks everyone, I am really happy that my work is appreciated, even if it's just the beginning ! And appreciated by people who share the same interest for spyderco as I do.
I try to have my own flair, to really let my instinct dictate where the pencil goes. I'll still punch a hole in a few knife blades sooner than later :winking-tongue

While working on the third, a frontflipper linerlock with an opening hole (asked sal via e-mail if he's ok with this, it's not gonna be sold it is to submit at the next Amsterdam Meet), I finished a kitchen knife.

I've drawn it years ago, pre-ground it and only heat treated this year with a knife maker friend of mine. It has a differential heat treat and is made from simple XC75 (IIRC it's 1075 carbon steel in freedom language). Desert Ironwood scales with a handle similar to what I do on mules. It's the most comfortable handle I've experienced so I wanted to incorporate it for that kitchen knife that'll stay in my home for years.
A few specs of abrasive managed to get inside of the blade protection and scratch the blade. Since this steel patinas so fast I might just let it that way, or start the revelation process again (which is a pain on this steel).

@Mushroom Thanks man, can't wait to sharpen it and put it to use ! After that I'll stop making stuff only for myself, but a first folder, first fixed blade (with a real design, not a generic thing) are things I wanna keep for the future :winking-tongue

As of now, the heat cycles and carbidizing are done on the fronflipper/hole opening folder. I'll put this on pause to decide how to proceed to add Ti bolsters and more cool stuff next :thinking

To me you are a Master Bladesmith already. Oh wow I so would love one of those. Would you ever consider making one with a N690 stainless steel blade and rubber handle? Knife making supply places sell both.

@PM2Josh & @SpyderEdgeForever thanks much !

I'm touched by the compliment but a Master Bladesmith is lightyears ahead of me, just by the fact that I don't have much tooling right now, and no way near enough experience. Next thing would be to buy a good oven to be able to heat treat everything to my liking. I'm a bit stuck as far as steel choice goes for now.

Since I live in France it is way too expensive to order stuff from knife making supply, but we have plenty of places to buy from. I won't be able to do things on order for a while because I have a lot of customization orders to fullfil first, then finishing a few projects and I'll be free to only make knives, including knives on order :)

I can't say from the quote, which of my knives were you referring to ? And by rubber do you mean the mix of rubber and G10 that is called suretouch ?

Thanks!

1 I was referring to the folder with the long clip point.

2 Sure Touch Rubber G10 sounds great but I was thinking of that horse mat hard rubber or similiar

Could you please send me a link by private message ? I'm interested in learning more about it, and if I can source it here :) I've ordered from the USA recently, I just paid crazy taxes but I can always figure out a way if it cannot be sourced elsewhere. Thanks !
