I'm curious the percentage of buyers who got the sheath and scale kit along with their mule. With those both sold out alongside the mules, I am betting it was pretty high.
Same as Magnacut

Seems the hot steels are bringing out new people to Mules and Spyderco. This having them buy scales and sheaths.
Most here know there is several places that also make aftermarket scale's that fit .

And many like me that make their own scales

SE Sold out 11:06.
Yeah...Paypal got hung up on going back to vendor and my first two attempts didn't go through. Third one worked, but SE was sold out. Interestingly, at exactly release time, there was about 15 seconds where the SE said sold out, then the add to cart button appeared. (I only noticed that on mobile).

If anyone wants to trade my plain edge for your SE, let me know. I really want to test the SE.

Do those of you who regularly buy mules keep swapping the scales and sheath to the current one you are testing? Just curious for the future. I could see myself grabbing a few more mules down the road.

I got PE, scales, and a leather sheath (just liked the look) at 9:05 MT. SE version already sold out but wasn't planning on getting one. Super smooth process no issues with PayPal or website.

Beyond frustrated!!! Had both in my cart and went to the paypal window which went through, but then bounced me back to the cart which now had the spyder-edge version removed. Tried again, same thing, then lost the plain-edge. No confirmation notice. I checked my credit card and it was billed and then reversed. I then called Spyderco and they said I was out of luck. It is frustrating that when you get in on time and do everything right and then you lose out.

Probably several different types.
There is a few places that make scales in all sorts of colours and materials so many would have a few sets of scales.
But you could get away with one set as it takes a less than few minutes to change out scales.

Good to keep looking under the scales also as the removable scales wick a bit of water underneath so it would be useful to keep a eye out for corrosion/rust spots

Thanks for the tip. I live in a pretty dry environment (which surprises me since I am on the Maine coast), and store my knives with silica gel packets, but I will make sure to check periodically just the same. Can't be too careful.

Hi,
I must be lucky.
I added my MT46S to my cart at 9:00 AM, paid via PayPal before the end of 9:01 AM, and received an order confirmation from Spyderco in less than a minute.
I followed the instructions received by email from Spyderco few days ago.
My Spyderco account and address were up to date and logged in.
My PayPal account was logged in.
And I added the Boltaron Sheath and G10 Handle Kit to my cart before the countdown ended.
The whole process was quick and easy. I didn't experience any slowdowns or crashes with Spyderco.com or PayPal.
Everything was much smoother than the last Online Factory 2nd.

This was exactly my experience as well, very smooth and received my confirmation email at 11:01.

I was able to get a set of scales, does anyone know if Spyderco makes them in house, or know who makes them?

I believe they are made by Halpern for Spyderco . I could be wrong . MG2

Halpern makes the black MT scales for Spyderco which are a bargain at $54 compared with the $79 that Halpern charges for similar contoured scales on their website.

Stopped by this morning and said hello to the crew. In person it was more relaxed, but lots of activity online and on the phones for sure.

The Magnamax mule is thicker than other releases.

Sorry to those that had glitches this morning, but keep your eyes open. I saw several boxes of these mules and they said they might put more on the website today, especially if the in-person traffic stays light. There is still a chance.

I heard 1500 from the crew is what sold out online this morning, and I saw about 3 or so boxes of them with 40 each in the store, but I dont have an official count. It is at least 1600+.

Was that 1500 each or total? That is, 1500P & 1500S or 750P & 750S?

How come? It still beat out K390 in cut tests in its Mule iteration.

I like me some chonk, and while it is there, not very noticeable. We are talking like 5-10%.

I will stand to be corrected, but I kept hearing ‘1500 in 13 min’ which infers that would have been the total for everything together. While something is telling me that there were less SE mules made, I don’t know for sure and cannot speculate on that.
