I think if I did buy a 15v Native, it’d just sit in its box just like my 15v PM2 does.
This is a good point. Ahh! The irony of having a great steel like 15V for ultra high edge retention, but never wanting to use it to cut anything due to its inevitable rarity and collectability!
All the more reason to buy two. One user, one dust collector.

Even though I can never make it to Golden for a second sale I still keep a list of knives I would love to find/try. I would love to try a Native 5 G10 (15V, SPY27, etc) as I have LW Native 5 and a second would be a great way to try the G10 version. Same with a Manix XL, Military and a few others.

I dont have a G10 Native 5, but I’ve handled a few at the SFO and we do have a Native 5 Salt LW I picked up for the wife. The G10 model does feel nicer than the LW, but with the back lock, of course it will be a different experience than a compression lock, even with it being smoother.

I’m going to be keeping an eye out for a G10 Native Chief, because I’d like to try to convert one to a 3.5” Native 5.

Good luck, it's worth the effort:

That turned out pretty well. :smiling-heart-eyes
It has Shaman-esq profile to the blade. Dare I say prefer it to the factory native Chief and a factory native 5. 🤭

I have seen that project, and it is absolutely stellar. My fabrication skills are not at that level, but I can make it work. And with an expected hole in the handles right where it would get chopped, I can turn that into an inset lanyard pin and make it look normal-ish.

Maybe if a 15V Native Chief exists one day, that would be a good conversion, otherwise I'm going Salt and making my own scales.

Still on the fence with one of these.
Not cancelled my order yet. The thing is Magnacut Native 5’s are nowhere to be found in the U.K and I’ve not tried 15v yet. I want to see what all the fuss is about and plan to keep my PM2 15V firmly in its box.

My preference was originally the G10 15v native 5 model as I much prefer the feel and look of g10 and like the hardware more, but they are £70 more expensive than the FRN model here. That’s about a $100 difference. A bit of a difficult pill to swallow.

Could be worse, could be the $200 premium Spyderco want for the fat Carbon Chaparral over the FRN model. I wish you the best of luck with that one Spyderco. You’ll need it! :winking-tongue

I chipped out my maxamet Native 5 LW blade sunday night being dumb. So naturally, I used it as an opportunity to move forward on more 15V!

I picked up a Native 5 LW 15V. Looked it over and decided it would be worthwhile using. So I bought a backup to put away.

Same move I made with the Manix 2 LW in 15V. Bought two, one to beat on and one to save. Universal knife guy logic.

It makes sense, provided you can afford it. I’ve done it with a couple others as well:
Chaparral SE and Kapara S90V.
