That's ok. I have never seen any comment or post from you that was negative, that's admirable in a forum where all members pull in all directions at once and wonder why knife X isn't 1/2 inch longer or has Y steel instead of Z
I doubt my patience match yours.

This is a good community, and attracts good people. All people are imperfect, and there is a lot of grace to go around.

Regarding oldies, I still have my old Endura, and used to have a D'Allara sheepsfoot PE back when it was out. I'm a relative kid when it comes to how far back my history goes - about 15 years. And I think right now is the golden age.

Despite loving to try new steels, blade geometries, and handle shapes, I still have daily searches for some of the grail Spydies that have that timeless classic look. I still love ATS-55 Endura & Delicas with the barrel clip. I stumble upon Persians, Captains, Barongs, and Calypso models from time to time, some have been irresistible and now belong to me.

The evolution of knives is similar to that of the automobile, we love wrenching out all the power and efficiency we can from modern designs, but the elegance and beauty of some older models is enough to take your breath before you even hear the engine fire.

I still remember how disappointing it was to order what I thought was going to be a replacement Gen 3 Delica, only to receive a Delica 4 because the site hadn't updated their photos and descriptions yet. I've never completely warmed up to the lined Delica and Enduras. Interestingly enough, it's easier to find the older integral clip models than it is to find Delica 3's and Endura 3's.

finding NOS Spydies hits a lot different than grabbing a regular production knife or even a hot sprint. It feels like coming across an old forgotten treasure. I couldn't believe it when I stepped into a local gun shop a couple months ago and saw a white spyderco box in their display case!

Yeah the first version was single liner and had a round glued in Terzuola emblem in the handle 2/3 the way back from the pivot.

I like the one you have and keep hoping they bring it back for a modern Sprint like they did with the Lum Tanto/Goddard/etc. more recently...

I can't compare this one to the old model, but it's certainly unique knife. Not too heavy despite 4mm thick spine, very open construction, aggressive jimping and butter smooth action...even though it's still brand new (except that someone switched the pocket clip for tip up carry...which I fixed today). Some of the thinnest G10 scales around.

You will be pleased with Hap40 with only a modicum of care to prevent corrosion.

It really does, but the lack of a lanyard hole is the giveaway.

I know handle shapes, contours, thicknesses and textures are all subjective, but i miss the thinness of some of the oldies. We typically consider the FRN mid-locks to be thin, but it is all relative.

I'm in the polar opposite camp. I wish Spyderco would thicken up the handles. They're so much comfier in the hand, and for me, it doesn't make a big enough difference in carry comfort to sacrifice in hand comfort so much.

Had never held one of these before. Had to buy it. It's a thicker handle than any other stock Police, quite comfy.

I touched up the edge on the sharpmaker so it's no longer mint. I'll carry it one of these days.
