Perhaps. But only if BHQ is not given the exclusive rights to this one as well.

Weren't the standard black ones just regular production from Spyderco? I thought they just got the initial drop exclusive in their M4/jade combo.
There was a big hullabaloo here in the forum a few years ago with regards to the tanto blade being exclusive to BHQ only.
I must have missed that when I was off the forum for awhile...

So which retailer has rights to the upcoming Bowie PM2? ...kidding
Going back to Caly.

Is it worth discussing the new Military 2 Tanto if there is already a PМ 2 Tanto but it is not available for purchase anywhere?

But I will vote YES

Well, yes? I'm not sure I understand your question. Sounds like you're saying why do a Military 2 tanto when there's already a Para 2 tanto?

I’d rather see a wharnie variation than a tanto.

You know, I always thought tantos were silly but recently have come to like the look of the Benchmade Bailout and the CRK tantos.

I don’t love the compound grind on the PM2, but i think it’s necessary to keep a very strong point. I wonder if they could do without it? I’d much prefer a full flat grind.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Put the wharncliffe bade on the Para 3. Clamshell packaging wouldn't stand a chance. :smlling-eyes

Back when I was really biased to wharnies, I realized that these "Americanized tantos" with the straight belly and hard corner can be used very similarly to a wharnie up until you want the tip to pierce things the same way. If you keep that corner sharp you can use it for precision cuts like the tip of a wharnie.

I’d buy one if it wasn’t an exclusive / limited sort of thing. I’m past that life. Does Spyderco have any tantos in their line up? Wild if not. Serrated tanto military would be very cool.

I'm a fan of tanto blades, especially when the edge at the tip is straight, rather than curved.

I like that feature also. Being flat lets it more easily be used for scraping and I never EDC a chisel.

One of my dream collaborations has always been a Spyderco made Graham Razel, with Spyderco's ergonomics in the handle and Graham's chisel tip blade concept. This isn't exactly that but if the grind is done stout enough at the tip it could be a close compromise.

Yes or no?

I'm not the biggest tanto fan, but when I realized the Para 2 tanto's blade tip is in the same location as the standard blade shape, that was a big deal for me because it means the tip is where I'm used to it being, as opposed to any other tanto that usually has the tip high up on the spine that requires you to really turn your wrist to angle the tip down to make cuts with it. The tip is still on the spine with the Para 2 obviously but the sloping spine is what makes the difference.

Ever since then I've wanted a tanto Military and now that I've warmed up to the Military 2, and given the similarities between it and the Para 2, it seems like a no brainer.

Quick and dirty photoshop just for a visual idea. Only did the open profile -

This is awesome. Despite disliking most tanto folders, and having no need for them, I'd buy this one!

Just a thought: I'd love to see a similar blade in the Autonomy.

I'm in full support of just about anything Autonomy related. I think this would almost have to be in the Autonomy 2 though, not sure if they could push the blade in any further into the Autonomy 1 handle.

Yes but hopefully not a dealer exclusive like the PM2.
It rains rust in Hawaii.

Yes. That's what I was seeing in my mind when the thought occurred.

Well I had to find out for myself so I had a blade custom made. I think Spyderco's proportions would look a little more elegant but I still feel pretty strongly that this idea has a lot of potential.
