I'm not the biggest tanto fan, but when I realized the Para 2 tanto's blade tip is in the same location as the standard blade shape, that was a big deal for me because it means the tip is where I'm used to it being, as opposed to any other tanto that usually has the tip high up on the spine that requires you to really turn your wrist to angle the tip down to make cuts with it. The tip is still on the spine with the Para 2 obviously but the sloping spine is what makes the difference.
Ever since then I've wanted a tanto Military and now that I've warmed up to the Military 2, and given the similarities between it and the Para 2, it seems like a no brainer.

Looks like fun to me, and seems like a good platform for it. But despite trying to carry a tanto many times, I ultimately have never enjoyed using one.
Surprised you wouldn't ask for the Bodacious Tanto!?
Or is that the next request? That could be tasty. Blade shape similar to a Lum, but with the comp lock & Sals handle forward swell grip...
As far as the Military Tanto, that could be cool. Ever since they did the Military 2, it's basically just now a PM2 XL, for better or worse. So everything they've done to the PM2 as far as the recent alternative blades could apply just as successfully to the Military 2 now.
I would be shocked if BHQ doesn’t have a Mil2 Tanto already planned . MG2

Weren't the standard black ones just regular production from Spyderco? I thought they just got the initial drop exclusive in their M4/jade combo.
BHQ has exclusive rights to the Tanto blade shape regardless of the steel type.
You're saying tanto blade in ANY of the Spyderco platforms/designs!? That's wild if so, wide sweeping, yet vague, exclusive!
This is one thing that really frustrates me about Spyderco. Tanto and FDE should NOT be blanket dealer Exclusives.
A steel and handle material/color combo is fine to be Exclusive, I get that, but its really annoying that Tanto and FDE coating have a blanket ban unless DLT or REC commission a rare run. And these dealers intentionally limit supply to increase perceived value. I hate this type of business model.

This brings up a question in my head... Has Spyderco done an in house design Tanto? I can't recall off the top of my head, blanking on examples here, if there are any. They've possibly been all collaborative designs, or now these exclusives?
This could mean that low key they just didn't see the value of the Tanto blade to keep it in-house and had little to no issue in licensing that out as an exclusive right...
You'll never ever see this happen with Leaf nor Wharncliffe blades, etc.

Hmm, I wouldn't be opposed to the idea, a leaf shaped tanto blade might be awesome, or they'd need to change it to a straight spine shape. All I really want for the Bodacious is more steel options, I can even live with the flat scales.

I'm also blanking on what FDE is.
I don't think there was anything low-key about it - I believe someone from the Spyderco team stated either in a video or forum post that tantos have historically sold so poorly for them that they were unwilling to do the PM2 tanto until BHQ put up the money to develop/tool up the new blade profile. As a result, it remains BHQ-exclusive.
FDE = flat dark earth; assuming reference is to the REC-exclusive blade coating color.
