Closer to K390 but stainless.

This is very similar to my steel, the properties and composition of which I published in early April on this forum. This is very suspicious. viewtopic.php?t=96410

Is the name “magna wear” still the name? I have a much better marketable name that could be used. I won’t post it here for obvious reasons but Dr Larin can reach out if he wants. My consultant fee is one beer.

I secretly want MangaSlice to be a real steel.

It’s not a secret now.
You will sell a lot of Katanas to young male brains struggling with the new levels of testosterone. An Anime based steel has a market for sure. You better hope Dr Larin does not send a cease and desist letter.🤣🤣🤣 best thing is to start the covert project with Larin Directly and not only would it be possible, it would be amazing. Start with your trademarks and pray that Dr Larin loves Anime. We know he has a sense of humor, just not sure how far down the Japanese pop culture rabbit hole he would be willing to go. If you controlled the steel, makers would have to license with you and that could be the business model that could make it work. Oh yeah… is BBB an Anime geek too?

Worst part is I don't really even care for anime... this is just the kind of high concept comedy that really amuses me.

How would the new steel be different from S90 and 110? They have fairly good stain resistant

Tougher seems to be the goal from what we’ve been told. Maybe more corrosion resistant too. Time will tell need to be patient.

Closer to K390 but stainless.

Hoss
That would make entire families of knife steel obsolescent. Unless they can be treated to a higher hardness.

Excited about this new steel as I everyone appears to be. Just wanted to say this would make a great Mule. Hopefully we will see one in the future, I have saved some neat scale someone gave me that need a home.

Just thinking out loud:
I'm wondering what the design goals for this steel were.
My wild guess is something along the lines of stainless 3V.
That's what MagnaCut already is :).

But stainless K390, holy moly!

I'm more than a little curious to see the recipe and read about why this newfangled steel behaves the way it does.

I'm all in if it outperforms S90V in all categories.

MagnaCut is stainless 4V class
NioMax is stainless 3V class

Magnacut is more like stainless 4v.
IIRC, the Magnacut design target was a stainless steel with edge retention and toughness in the ballpark of 4v or Cruwear.
3V is much tougher than 4V and has a lower level of edge retention.

Does this mean that Magnacut has rendered 4V obsolete, and this new steel will do the same thing to 3V ?

From a buyer/user point of view, what reasons would there be to opt for a non-stainless steel if a stainless alternative is available that has similar toughness and edge-retention?
