My new UKPK drop point is in rotation!

BKKP3021.JPG!.JPG

One does not see these drop point variants of the UKPK a lot here it seems - at very first glance I was like "how on earth did he shrink his Stretch 1 and give it a wire clip?" ;)

I like that blade shape btw!
+1 on the blade shape. Recently picked up the UKPK MagnaCut. Would have preferred it as a drop point instead of leaf for PE. Prefer leaf for serrated blade, tho.

I plan on trying a serrated in leaf shape for my first serrated knife. Either the Chaparral or the Leafjumper if I find one (Leafjumper) discounted.

Nice pic!

And I really love the 4V Goddard... but something quite astonishing and sad happened to the edge of mine (100% user error) - guess I'll do a dedicated post about this.

Thank you, Gernot.

I'm interested to know what happened to your Goddard. I hope it isn't anything major.

You can´t go wrong with the Leadjumper SE if you want to experience what serrations are all about (tried that model myself).

And from all I hear this is also true for the Chap SE: One of my most anticipated knives (actually since 2020, when there weren´t even rumors that a Chap with teeth would ever exist), can´t wait till it will become available here in Europe.

Third recommendation for trying SE, as always: VG10 Endela SE. Great performing teeth too.

In short: I accidentally left some tick repellent on the (even coated!) blade - you won´t believe what this did to the 4V blade and edge! Nasty stuff, I can tell you!

I´ll do a dedicated post with pics when I have time!

Beautiful 📸 Gernot 👏 👊

Thanks, Salty! :clinking-mugs

Lately it would actually be hard to NOT make pics of Spydies on a mountain high above the cloud layer... cause this is where I try to be as much as possible this time of year. :smlling-eyes

So: Nothing new today.

That does sound nasty. I guess the Spyderco bug does not react well to tick repellent :bug-red

I will wait for your post then.

Thanks, Dan, for the kind words... the perhaps "amazing" part though has nothing to do with me, but just with the fact that I am so lucky to live where I live and being able to do what I do... delivers great scenery and background for free without any effort on my part.. :preying

Wait for it and be prepared... it´s not about the bug... rather about a huge and wide "chip" (much taller than the edge bevel itself) done by the aggressive tick repellent and about that even the COATED part of the blade is affected...

Love that design. Someone had mentioned they hoped for a black Micarta version with VG10 to keep the cost down. Would be awesome.
Love the design too! I get that folks want it in vg10 and micarta from a cost perspective, but I hope Spyderco sticks to laminated high carbon steels such as ZDP-189, HAP40 or Aogami super or at least make one iteration with it besides vg10. Besides the handle and overall looks, I just love the laminated blade.

Man the Chief really would be a nice model to get bolsters. Would be especially awesome if the whole handle got a little contouring like the Damascus Caly 3 got. It would probably be pretty heavy though since it would get full liners too.

I have a soft spot for good German-made hand tools, Knipex being one of those brands.

Also, good USA-made cutlery! :bug-red-white
