I'd be interested in a large Persian in Cruwear/gray G10 to match my Ayoob, with the bolsters please.

C95.
Yes ! I know , I expect getting razzed ! :smlling-eyes Dan
I know I beat this drum often but there isn't any classic model I'd rather see come back.

I'd want to keep it simple. Do it the same way they did the one and only sprint, except scale colors and possibly steel.

Fine jimping on the thumb ramp. No jimping on the index choil. Black pocket clip. Full flat ground 4mm thick blade. Skeletonized liners. Backspacer immaculately finished so it sits flush with the liners.

If it needed to be an existing color & steel combo, I'd vote jade G10 & M4, or gray G10 & Cruwear. This models deserves a tough steel if it isn't going to be brought back in S30V. I wouldn't say no to orange & rex45 or red & 4V either.

It's such an amazing model. I'd love to see how people react to it these days.
Absolute agree , would like to see the C95 continue to continuation on Hray / Cruwear theme to in a way to honor JD efforts bringing back classics . A M4 DLC / Gray would be sinister ! Dan

Looks like the general consensus is towards the C95, I've never owned an XL before but I'm in! I really was hoping for a Hollow grind blade but this will work, and I'm in for either M4 or Cru-wear, both are great to me.

How about a little darker Gray G-10 than the Ayoob, or even a nice Foliage or Forest Green G-10?

Alright vivi, your model, time to JD up and persuade Sal this is the one we need!

Some shade of green would be my first choice for the scales, so maybe we need to go with CTS204P :cheap-sunglasses

I do like your idea of a darker shade of gray to go with cruwear too.

Now that I think about it, I think 3V would offer some flexibility. As far as I can recall the Tuff was the only folder that used it, and it isn't tied down to a certain color scheme.

Decisions decisions.

I would be down for almost any Schempp design. Certainly helps that Ed is one of the nicest guys around. All of his designs were really before I got into Spyderco.

As far as steel and colors go, I do not think you need to pair color and steel like we have seen before on an exclusive run. Spyderco will most likely not do a steel/color combo on a Sprint that one of their dealers have claimed for an exclusive. Gray and Cruwear would be cool and already used by Spyderco for the Ayoob Sprint.

The other option would be to lobby a dealer to choose an older model to commission an exclusive for. Like St. Nicks with some red and 4V or Knife Works with forest green and CTS-204P .

The most compelling recent releases have all been revivals - The Ayoob, Temperance, and GB2 among others.

More PM2/3/manix - meh. Big meh. Even the Magnacut Salts dont deliver on their high price to me.

I, and many others, didn't know of or weren't legally able to purchase Spydercos during the Golden Era. The Golden Era revivals are much, much more compelling than another rehash of the regular suspects.

Golden Era models re-released in current CPM steels and updated colorways are freaking awesome. The Ayoob and Temperance are among my favorites, and there are many more models from this era that deserve an update and revival.

I'm hard pressed to part with more than $200 on a knife, but the Golden Era models have been no brainers.

So I need for someone to make a lit of the desired models so I can bring it to R&D.

However, Some of the models were made by makers that are no longer with us and the skill required to reproduce the models is easily available. The Beautiful genius design of Ed Schempp's Kris is such an example.

What models are you referring as the Golden Era models?

Sal, here's my list:

C95

I'm not picky about steel or color. Just make it as well as the foliage green sprint turned out, without changing the design (e.g. adding jimping where there wasn't, reducing spine thickness, etc.) Spoon shaped clip wouldn't be a problem, but the original squared off clip is fine too.

The C95 was my third Spyderco, behind a Delica and single liner Military. To this day anytime I hold one, nearly 20 years later, I'm still impressed by both the overall build quality and the amazing ergonomics. Eric nailed it with that design.

I'd buy a C95 in a heartbeat. CruWear/ Grey G10 would be a grail level knife but I'd still buy it as a plain jane s30v/ black G10. I dont own a C95 but the Manix 2 lock back (yes the one nobody loved because it didn't have liners) is easily my favorite of all my Manix 2's but the Manix XL is my preferred size.

My list is short as well:
Rookie (I actually - and finally, have a Rookie incoming after years of hunting on the domestic market, but I'll easily commit to another one if it had another run)
Junction

But this isn't what you asked for, so being that we're just a bunch of unorganised fools I'm going to turn on my emergency lamp and signal for help
