Is the edge of yours no longer impacting the lanyard hole / clip screws?
I remember reading something to that effect last night, similar to the cruwear Stretch XL issues others were having.
I was thinking about making a separate post about it, but yes the blade is going too far in when closed and the edge was hitting the clip screw stand off.
I noticed this after opening and closing it only a couple times, the edge was dented.
This is the 3rd knife in a row I’ve had from Golden with QC issues, this one being the most significant which I consider a functional defect.
Took it apart to make sure it wasn’t going to get worse but the blade seemed to be at the end of travel, as it was in contact with the stop pin, but also touching the clip screw stand off.
All I could really find was some dlc/coating slag inside the liner holes so I de-burred all the inner surfaces, cleaned and lubed everything. I somehow managed to get a tiny bit of clearance by adjusting the stop pin, but it still sits lower into the handle than I'd like. Sharpened out the dent so should be ok going forward, really like the knife but kind of fed up with Spyderco QC, why do I have to do all this on a knife straight from their factory.
Thanks for the reply and the detailed photos. I agree, on a knife costing this much that isn't something I'd consider acceptable.
Hopefully when the expansion is complete these sorts of things get more attention. They're probably a bit distracted with all that going on.
Maybe it would be a good idea to make one general thread where all QC issues can be discussed, instead of putting them in threads for individual runs of different models. It would make them stand out more to the people that can do something about them.
Hopefully an isolated case.. I guess others can report when they come in.
The highlighted section where the blade scallop meets the scales choil section just seems a bit off.
My only other model reference to compare is my cruwear exclusive which is flawless, it was also $50 cheaper at the time of purchase.
Vivi I like the idea of a dedicated thread, I was thinking along the same lines before posting here.
I received mine today. Very nice knife and I see none of the issues that have been laid out here.
I held the knife up to the light. Opened. Flicked closed, and then looked again and there is space between the blade and standoff.
Another Spyderco to collect!

Pretty sure my daughter got me this one for my birthday or Christmas. Birthday is the 17th so sometimes I get some things combine as birthday/Christmas gift.
Finally got mine after a usps mix up. It is pretty on par with all my others. Only thing is that it is a touch closer to clip pin. But it’s not touching. Also a little tight out the box but I’m use to adjusting pivot screws. Grinds are good. DLC is perfect. I approve!
Another one that got through the QC net at Golden?
Blade rap is one of the worst things that can happen to a new, fresh out the box folding knife. The only time I’d settle for a knife that suffered with it would be if it were a $10 beater. Nothing more.
What’s the point in paying good money for a knife with an amazing steel if the edge is fudged up (and will persistently become more fudged up every time you close it) on arrival?
Mine arrived today, and I wasted no time swapping the scales for an old set of Ripps Garage Tech ones that I had for a Lil Native I once owned. I liked the tan/DLC colorway, but can't stand the textured G10.
However... Mine is a victim to the ever so slight blade rap. Kind of hard to see, but there is a little depression there.
I'm going to use this, so it will sharpen it's way out, but this is the first of probably 20 Spydercos that I've owned that had any sort of defect.

Guess I got lucky. No blade rap for me. Maybe it’s because the choil hits my finger when I close it? I like your perspective about using it so it will get sharpened out eventually. I’m going to borrow that attitude if it does happen so thanks for sharing.
