I'm enjoying this one so much I already tracked down another PE yellow Pacific 1 to make a back-up.

After being indecisive for so long about which Spyderco I like best it feels good to have a definitive favorite.

I want to click “like” on a lot of your pictures, but that’s not an option… anyway, I do like a lot of them.

How does the Polestar compare to Benchmade's Bugout?
The more I carry my Bugout, the more I long for a Spyderco alternative.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.
Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Hmmm, I'm not JSumm but I have both knives. They are very different. The Bugout has basically no shape to it. It's a straight handle with a spear point blade. It's thin also. The Polestar is a much bigger knife and has some real ergonomics to the handle and a good sized leaf-shaped blade. Takes up much more real-estate in the pocket. But if I had a hard use task, the Polestar would win out every time. And if you look at the Alcyone, it's not a svelte as the Butgout but again the ergonomics are superior. Heck, not to be too judgemental, but the Bugout you could almost says doesn't have any ergonomics...

I scored a CQI Siren locally at a great price. Finding well priced Spyderco's in Aus is a rare feat!
I think I'm going to enjoy this one a whole lot... It is a full size folder. I put it straight to work.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
It doesn't. I have a Bugout. I replaced the scales with G10 to give it a little more heft. I like it a lot. It is a great knife, but I much prefer the ergos on the Polestar. It is almost identical to the Rock Jumper in the handle if you have ever tried that.kennethsime wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 7:35 pmHow does the Polestar compare to Benchmade's Bugout?

I think it is one of Sal's best designs. I hope it never goes away. Honestly, wish it would move to Golden production and we could see some exclusives in it. I think then it would get the attention it deserves.
It is so nice, it has unfortunately killed any excitement I had for the Leaf Jumper.
