I'll let you know in a few days what my opinion of Byrd knives are. I'm getting an FRN handled Meadowlark(PE). :D :D If it's good, which I'm sure it will be, I'll relegate my Nav2 to "Church" knife. I'm always afraid I'm gonna lose it so I'm sometimes scared about carrying it. I can use and abuse ...

You're not a dumbass. Regardless of if he went or not, you gave a close friend something extremely nice. The only thing I would do is encourage him to use it. He may be a future Spyderco nut. Maybe he doesn't use because he ALSO has sentimental feelings toward it.

I am also ex-Infantry and I agree with this. A quality multi-tool would also be good too.

Those pics are pretty good. I love Christmas. Both the religious AND the secular parts of it. I have a 2 and a half year old. This is his 3rd Christmas and it's starting to be a lot of fun for him. Before he was too young to really know what's going on but now it's a blast. And it'll be better next ...

I'm new but I read this whole thread. If it would be possible to keep this knife near the 100 dollar mark or less I'd love to get one too. I love my Nav2 and it brought me into the Spydie world but things like this let me know that it's about more than just the knife. It's the people behind the ...

I'll throw my 2 cents in there. I'm am not a martial arts master or anything but I've studied some self defense and to be honest I used to be a drunk butthole that got into fights. I will say that I never started any but I wasn't going to back down either. I wasn't big enough or talented enough to ...

The best all time inexpensive watch I have ever worn and still do (on occasion)is a Timex expedtion. They have several varieties. The term takes a lickin and keeps on ticken stands true. I gotta second this. I've got 2 and they're great.

One of them my 2 year old played with for several months ...

Actually it was either a Military or Para-military(I don't remember which one he told me) and it was going for $169. Not a bad guess though.

Edited to add: It was a Para-military. I remember now. Nice knife but a LITTLE big ...

A little frustrated

My wife heard on the radio about a gunstore in town. They advertised as being a dealer in Spydie's among other things. So yesterday I went to this store hoping to fondle a bunch of Spydies. My anticipation was almost overriding my senses. I missed the turn and had to go to the next street and come ...

That sucks. Especially this time of the year. But hang in there. You'll find the right one. I didn't find mine until I was 29 so I know how much the waiting sucks.

Edited to add: I second getting a new knife, that always cheers me up.

Right now the only :spyder: I own is the Navigator II. It's a great knife but I want a "beater" knife. I'm leaning toward the Byrd Robin. Similarly sized, a perfect EDC companion to the Nav2. The Nav2 will be upgraded to "Sunday, going to meeting" status. So for right now the Robin is the "perfect ...

I will never understand the rationale behind these laws. It's like banning cars to prevent DWI's. Banning forks because people are too fat. Why can't people understand that inanimate objects are just that? Ugh!!!

Thank you for the quick response. By "prettier" I meant the stainless. I know, kinda vague. The Kiwi's are beautiful knives but seem more "handsome" than "pretty". LOL I'm sure I'm sure I'm not making good sense. I find it hard to communicate in writing what I'm thinking. My Nav2 is a great cutting ...
