Congratulations! Great knife.

I had a similar problem with a Lava. I called Spyderco and they said to send it in for inspection. They sent me back a new replacement. You may wish to call Spyderco CS.

I would like to know your opinion of how the Bowie compares to the Techno. I consider the Techno one of the best knives I've ever owned regardless of price. I don't own a Bowie, but I'm considering buying one.

What are your thoughts in comparing the two?

Ansø Zulu. It's hard to imagine how useful this knife is!

I would think that a waved serrated Matriarch would be an ideal SD knife for the untrained citizen. Easy to conceal, light, easy to open and doesn't take much skill to deploy into a assailant or yourself.

I'm very much in the Zulu camp. I've used mine daily for slicing and it's still sharp as from the factory. Very comfortable handle and easy to maneuver.

Anso Zulu. When I think EDC it all comes down to weight. Yep, Anso Zulu it is.

My favorite fruit knife was my FFG Matriarch Sprint. :D

My Zulu feels great in the hand, slices great, stays sharp. I've used it everyday for 10 months for light duty. Still has the factory edge.

I prefer the texture of the G10 on the Zulu handle and the similar texture of the PPT.

How about Duke, Cootie, Count, Slim, Slam, Toots, Fats, Hoagy, Yardbird, Cannonball, Trane. Instead of Lady Bug we can have Lady Day. Instead of Caly 3 and Caly 3.5 we could have Django and Stephane. Well, I can dream can't I?

I believe another indicator of a "Japan" knife being made by Moki is that the words on the tang stamp uses mixed case for their letters, i.e. "Japan" instead of "JAPAN" and "Spyderco" instead of "SPYDERCO".

I've been EDCing my Zulu for a few months now and it does slicing chores amazingly well. I've attempted to tighten the pivot in order to create a slower, more controlled opening and closing of the blade, but no matter how much I tighten the two pivot adjustment screws the tension remains the same ...

Some knives like the Gayle Bradley are built to be used hard for a long time. Often the mechanism needs breaking in to provide one's desired ease of unlocking. Your new Gayle Bradley must be such an example.

Break it in. It will get better.

I've owned a few of the usual suspects i.e., Caly3 ZDP, Calypso Jr ZDP, and others with FFG. I've found that the best slicer I've used is the Anso Zulu with the high hollow grind. The comfortable handle also helps in positioning the knife for different angles of slicing.
