Your names for Spyderco Knives
Spyderco uses some very well thought out names for their blades.
What is really in a name? Does it affect the way you consider a knife for purchase? Does it add more value to a knife? Or is it something not relevant at all.
Share here with us any names that you would like to see on a Spyderco knife and if any, the reason for using that name.

I don't put much thought into names unless they're really stupid, which most of them aren't. I don't really care for overly complicated or overly intimidating names....i'd probably shy away from a knife called "THE THROAT SLITTER" if you know what i mean. I nicknamed my DLC Para 2 Darkside, but that's more of a Star Wars nerd thing lol.
I do think it would be cool if sprint runs had a unique name to them, even if it just accents the original name.

I know I steer away from knives with goofy names like "Zombie Slayer Extreme" or such nonsense. Of course, some names are better than others, but I appreciate Spyderco's thoughtful approach to names. Thank goodness their entire line isn't based on spider names.
When there is a spider reference, it's subtle, like the Kumo. Or cleverly layered inside 2 or more meanings, like the Spin.
It's nice when there's a thoughtful story behind the name, like the Sage series. This is a big part of why Spyderco continues to be my favorite knife company.

It's nice to read these comments.
Indeed, having a very ferocious named knife on a person at the wrong time can get the owner into trouble. Think in terms of courtroom cases where a lawyer can say that someone used the "Spyderco Throat Slitter" to stab someone. Even if the person was defending themselves, how will the jury take it. These sheeple friendly names do help a lot. For me, the most ferocious looking knife in the entire Spyderco range has the simplest name, the Civilian.
That said, I would like to see a knife name "Homer" in appreciation of Homer Simpson in the Simpsons. The knife has to have a full belly and a good girth :D

I've nicknamed my PPT the crouching tiger and the Para2 as hidden dragon as it goes inside the old phone pouch. Dont tell anyone, only you all know.

Every Spyderco knife I've purchased has been chosen by looking at the various specs and characteristics. Why would I care, prima facie, what the name was? Would some of you really avoid a knife that you loved the characteristics of, simply because of the name? If so, that seems truly odd to me. Sure, I'd prefer a simple, non-screwy name like "Stretch" rather than "Bungrippa", but ultimately it's not going to affect my purchase or use of the knife.
i call my para 2 digi/dlc "the devil"
that may be kind of weird and satanic (which i am not) but when you look at that thing open, it just looks evil. Very intimidating blade shape and size...the dlc really makes it nasty

Well, my wife calls them "waste of money" but that's more of a statement about me. :) As long as the names are not extreme, I'm good. Also, no numbers as names. Product codes, I understand but I prefer real names. With ethnic names, I like words that can easily be pronounced. For example, if the Warrior knives were named something like "Hwa-rang-do," I'd wince every time the name got butchered.
