Saw this thread still humming along, so I have to interject yet again to correct some errors and assumptions:

When people complain that a certain knife is hard to sharpen, I realize they are using sharpening technology that developed in the stone age. If you use exotic steels, exotic curves or ...

Wikipedia for knife expertise and blade combat? WOW. Good luck with that one.

Wikipedia is written by millions of people, and if you find any errors on the Bowie knife page, go right ahead and correct it ;)

Do some further research and you will discover that no one is exactly sure what the ...

In fact, the Chinook is nothing like a real Bowie knife, especially because if the Chinook's diminutive size. The Chinook is more like a miniature homage to the Bowie than a real Bowie. Read about the real Bowie knife here

Be that as it may...

the Chinook shape blade is not as easy to sharpen as other shapes, newbies take note
the swept blade design with prominent belly excels at tasks like skinning, scraping, and butchering of game animals, and that was the original use for such shaped blades
Now the original ...

Hey, opinions differ. Judge my arguments on the merits. Looking at Mr Keating's website, he doesn't seem to be a genius.

...the Chinook ... its design is intuitive and the 'animal claw' description is quite accurate.

I don't get this animal claw stuff. Animal claws are meant for grabbing, and tearing, not cutting. And in those few instances when they do cut, the inner edge is sharp or has serrations, not the outer ...

Knife buying is a disease. Yesterday I bought another Rukus in eBay, even though I have one. Afterwards I couldn't work out why I'd done it. I mean, it's a great knife (love that axis lock and long blade) but it'll just get chucked in a toolbox full of other unused new knives. What a dumbass I am!

Still no stock

Amazingly, and annoyingly, my retailer has STILL not got stock, and is still waiting for the item to arrive from the supplier, who in turn is still waiting on Spyderco. What a circus.

Getting like Benchmades line

The new knives have somewhat moved away from the "bird's skull" design, which was getting old to my eyes anyway...

Yeah, I got a new tenacious today too, which seems ok, also a bit stiff and rough, but for the price not too bad. I chucked it into my knife box for a rainy day. I really must stop buying these things....

Well, can't seem to get mine to work properly. Every time I tighten up hard the blade still wobbles laterally and there is a 0.5mm-1mm gap on the one side of the blade (between blade pivot hole and liner), even with the pivot hard tight. If no other suggestions, may just bin this item.

Only problem now is that the linerlock does not lock the blade. Maybe this is my fault: is there any special way that the pivot bolt, which has one flat surface, needs to be oriented?

Ok, took it apart (needed to break out my torx screwdriver with T-9 and T-6 bits). Dirty inside, black machining gunk on plastic washers. Used 600-grit waterpaper to smooth all surfaces. Lubed up all parts with silicone grease and silicone oil, 12000-weight and 350-weight and some silicone spray to ...

Just noticed that the gray paint on the aluminium scales is already rubbed off in places; had it out of the box less than an hour, lol.
