No H1 yet probably? I like the idea of a knife never rusting. I need to learn more about steel. One of my weak subjects.

Interesting. So I could be right, I was so certain the blade was vg10 on my Chinook. I really loved that knife. I used it hard on several occasions and it never rusted and it kept pretty sharp. When I held it in my hand, I could really feel the strength and quality in that knife.

Dr Snubnose, I noticed your icon pic shows a revolver. Do you edc a light frame revolver? Is it .38 special? What cartridges do you carry? Sorry to change subject, but I remember you being very knowledgeable on firearms and knives. I carried 200 gr lead bullets that my Dad gave me. Those are gone ...

Thanks dsmegst. And you are right, S30V is the steel I meant, that is what I think my Chinook was. (but I could be wrong again) I don't know so much about steel. But the Chinook was wonderful. Hmmmm... now i have to get my knives out and find which is made of vg10.

Well I survived another year of school, so I decided to buy myself a new Spyderco. I would like to support the workers in Colorado by buying one they made. I have not been on this site for a while and I am not current on anything related to knives.

The top knife is the real thing, the bottom one is the fake. It is very well made and the blade locks up very tight. This is not a typical cheap Chinese fake. Swap meet guy said they are 440 steel or Chinese equivalent. I paid $7.00 (1/2 price due to loose pocket clip)

I decided to get a couple of K-bar knives. I like the 1095 steel, but am thinking about a stainless version. The "real" k-bars cost about $50 but the stainless copies are $13. How does 420J2 hold up compared to 1095?

Any reputable dealer. New Graham Knives , Tom Berry ( Spydercovt ), Spydieguys , KnifeCenter , and a number of others, for example.

As for the hole yes, it's being ripped off more and more, and not just by the Chinese.

Fake Kopas, how can they legally sell an exact copy of someone else's work? The Spyderhole is no longer exclusive to Spyderco correct? I see so many name brands stealing that one.
