I really miss my Chinook. I think it was the best knife I ever owned. I would really love to buy another one. But I can't find one anywhere. And I heard prices on Ebay are insane.

I also looked for a Paramilitary and Kopa, but those seem to be out of production as well. But I really really really want a Chinook again.

peace & love

There was talk of a Chinook 4, but talk is about all that I have heard.
A Chinook 4 would be on my wish list as well.

My fear is that one of 2 things would happen if they do a sprint of the Chinook. 1) it would be changed to ”update" it. Making it all skeletonized and wire clipped or some such nonsense. Or 2) it would end up being a very poorly done copy of the original, like the recent Starmate.

A sprint of the original Chinook would be great! I hope whatever comes along has the original grind, or very similar.

Seriously though, they better not skeletonize the liners on the Chinook if there is a sprint run. The point of that knife was to be beefy and heavy. (Ha... point.) And please keep the badass swedge and saber grind!

I recently found the first Chinook, and I think It is the real biggest Spyderco folder, so is a bit early for a Sprint for me, but if you need to "make up the numbers", I'll surely buy a "new-old" knife Golden made: I'm with You Karen ;)
As the original, just different steel and colour, to make sense of a sprint run...

I'd love to see a Chinook1 that keeps the hollow grind, CTS-XHP (B75P would be nice too :p ), full steel liners, and dark gray G-10 handles. That would be an awesome work knife

It was kind of big. 6 oz. The blade was 3 3/4 but it seemed bigger. Just over 8 1/2 inches long total. But it is so solid and beautiful. The best knife ever.

I love the Chinook but I have never seen or handled one and I haven't been to successful in finding one that I can afford so I would definitely be on for a sprint. 8 1/2 inches is a perfect size.

Pomelly - thanks for the link!

I may be wrong in recalling this (as I can't look at my copies as I post this) but the Chinook 2 & 3 had skeletonized liners; it was one of the feature updates (like the blade shape change... more Persian than Bowie). It also helped make the knife lighter -- Chinook 1 was around 8oz while the 2 & 3 were closer to 6oz.

Anyway, a sprint or a 4 variant would be alright with me.
