Re: Where is the Urban Coyote?

Wow, just checking this thread after not viewing it for a while. I didn’t realize, mine has a lot of similar issues happening. Mine also has 2 large burrs in the thumbhole, and a rough spine grind (might as well mention it all: nearly exposed tip when closed/horribly cut jimping/multiple bevel angl...

Imagine what a native does to your hip when you put a motorcycle down...

The native did survive.

Re: S30v

Even though I'm fine with S30V, I'm still wondering why Spyderco chose to go with it instead of S35VN. Since S35VN is supposedly virtually the same, except for having a bit more toughness and being easier to work/machine. I would have thought S35VN would have made a better base steel for the Golden...

Re: Which is the best?

I'd say either save for what you really want, or if u can't wait, buy a Byrd meadowlark or crow 2 or possibly the Spyderco cat. All great knives under $50.

Re: S30v

I am not a steel junky, but I have a good variety of Spydercos and a few other brands in different steels. They are all good, just different. Some are better than others at different things. Steels like vg-10 and S30V are great knife steels that do what almost anyone needs a knife steel to do. We ar...

The handles definitely need to be softened on the edges- rounder. Jimping would also be appreciated. Back lock only for me.
As often is the case, I agree.

Re: Can we get a Bill Ruple/ Spyderco collab?

The spydie hole isn’t an issue. It can be done just like the Roadie. As far as the lock goes.....slipjoint. That’s his thing. Thanks, Rich So you just want a roadie style dent in an otherwise straight traditional slippie? The double dent is going to really limit blade shapes; sorry I just can't see...

Re: Can we get a Bill Ruple/ Spyderco collab?

Bill Ruple's work is topnotch, but I don't see where it would be a good fit with Spyderco. Mr. Ruple primarily makes traditional patterns that have been around for 100 years or more. The Lanny's clip posted by Dazen is a relatively new pattern, but the design was created by Tony Bose, not Bill Rupl...

The knife shouldn't be opening in your pocket. If this is happening consistently, send it in.

Re: Just the brown SM flats

The sharpie helps to see what's going on, especially if grinds are uneven. Good to do if you're having trouble.

Re: Just the brown SM flats

I could use a couple of pointers. I can get my knives sharp but I’m not getting an edge anywhere near to hair splitting. I have an old Norton wet stone that I used before I bought the Sharpmaker. I only use the Sharpmaker now. I have the brown medium stones and white fine stones. I watched the Spyd...

Re: Today I had a HUGE surprise with my Lil'Native... you were so right Doc !

I find the d'fly more comfortable in hand. The Lil native is more substantial, but the comp lock feels a bit awkward on such a small frame. It's also the only knife where I feel Spyderco put on nearly unusable jimping; it should be moved forward just before the thumb hole. It's only usable when not ...
