Re: Tone down color of bright FRN scales
Carry it a lot, they dull down over time. Getting it dirty will help. Or try leaving it in the sun.

Re: Spyderco Produce Harvesting Knives?
Any SE Spydie hawkbill model will work great in the garden.
As for the mass market, they would have to make them at a $20 or less price point to sell them to people who are using them as an almost disposable tool in the field. Probably not likely to be a good endeavor.

Bummer to hear. Seki factory issues? The Caly family deserves to be in more hands... It is some of your finest design work IMO.

Re: Para 3 LW 15V - 3 disappointments, or unrealistic expectations?
My 15V Para 3 shows no grind lines through the finish and neither does my factory second 15V PM2 (it has 1 scratch line near the tip that made it a second). That is something I would associate with poor finishing and QC oversight and would definitely not be happy about at this price point. I like to ...

I created a poll about 4 years ago that showed a strong majority here either preferred a Boye dent or had no strong preference. It was something like 65/35.

Re: 2024 Spyderco Second Sale November 23rd
How early would you guys recommend getting in line to have a decent shot at snagging a few decent starter edc type knives.
Not looking for anything super rare, maybe a Native 5 LW and something a like bigger (pm 2?) I’m new to Spyderco but thought this would be a good chance to try them out ...

Re: Why Did The Jumpers Fail?
It has been a quiet year of Spydies for me, but I did just order a Leafjumper in SE k390. I felt like I might miss out on a huge amount of cutting power in a pretty compact package so I bit. My Wharnie Rock jumper never really clicked for me, I will see if I prefer the leaf...

Re: Wood scratching titanium?
I don't think you're actually scratching the titanium itself, because it is one of the hardest metals known to man . However, I do believe that what you may be doing is transferring wood to the titanium finish, not scratching it. I can't comprehend wood of any sort could actually scratch ...

Re: Linerless Spydercos
In my years here, I have seen exactly 1 broken linerless FRN Spydie, which was accidentally run over by a Bobcat while stuck point down in the earth. I hope that offers some confidence.

The Hawkbill rides lefty with me to work about 90% of the time. The amount of work that thing has done is silly. Zip ties, rope, burlap, tree roots, branches, etc...

Re: Copy Cat compression lock.
It's not really a copycat, being it's open for use now by the knife world. That's the way patents work. Also, it isn't really new on the market, Vosteed has been doing them since this time last year.
The real question is what should the non-Spydie version be called? I believe compression lock is ...

Re: Sage series collection - What's the next Sage?
I'd be super interested in Spyderco's take on a crossbar lock as well as Snecx's Superlock.
Hi Araneae,
So, by the Crossbar lock. I guess you mean the Axis? Tell me more about the Snecx Tan Superlock?

I would like to see a G-10 version to thicken up the knife a bit. I have most of the previous versions and like the Almite thickness best for using.

Re: So, Sal, is the Caly3 model extinct ?!
My plan is to try to revive the Caly Family with a Caly 2.5", 3.0", 3.5", 4.0" and pendants. The maker is small and slower so it will be a while. Probably Carbon Fiber, though I'm open to suggestions.

Re: Price increases for 2024
My Spyderco buying has dialed way back in the last few years. Basically only MAP holidays and an occasional exclusive. Spyderco continues moving out of reach for the average buyer. At least they haven't reached BM level price madness yet. That pricing combined with the several year trend of ...
