Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Less than an hour after ordering, shipping label created for the 4V Shaman sprint from St. Nick's knives. Very fortunate to land one.

Re: Looking to get a foraging knife. Tasman Salt?

I get out and search for Bolete and Chanterelle with relative frequency. I've been collecting Spyderco's for a bit over 2 years now and have amassed 18 Spydies. My favorite forest foraging knives are an H1 SE Tasman Salt, and a Sliverax. I've put that Tasman to the North Coast California test, and i...

Re: Tuff Love - Any Hope of a Sprint Run?

The Tuff is the most I've paid for a knife, new or used. Got one for under $500, second hand but unused, and would do it again. I intend to carry it more frequently as my sharpening skills increase. It's unique style and mix of titanium and g-10 with an exotic steel make it a grail knife to me. I wo...

Re: Vote: SMOCK v.s. IKUCHI

Owning both of them, I find it difficult to compare them. The first thing that caught my attention on the Smock that hadn't until I had it in hand, was the fact that the pivot area is very blocky when the blade is deployed. That's not something that can be remedied easily due to the flipper mechanis...

Re: Who else is getting an Ikuchi as soon as they are released?

Thought I should add my experience with this knife. There is apparently some diversity in examples of the Ikuchi. My knifes wheel jimping is smooth on the top edge that is catching some peoples finger meat. The tip on my knife does catch some skin if I press into the end by the standoff. The detent ...

Re: Crazy deals @ Sierra and other places

Thanks Doeswhateveraspidercan, I grabbed a set. It's acceptable to bring the sharpmaker on a freight train for setting up in a hotel while away from home, but it should be really nice to have something more travel friendly. I didn't even know these stones existed!

Quick question for those of you who have the sharpmaker cbn rods. How do you clean those? I imagine using anything abrasive is a no no. Sorry to hijack, but op mentioned just cleaning his.....

Re: Guys who put lanyards on your knives, why?

I was also curious as to why and who uses lanyards, until I bought the PPT Sprint last year. The deployment is quicker, and it makes a difference for me when reaching into a pocket on my overalls. I haven't added a lanyard to the rest of my knives, but I'm more open minded now.

Re: What were the biggest changes to your EDC habits in 2018?

After reading about it here, carrying IWB became something I do frequently. With how I organize my pockets, I needed one or two side pockets on my pants to carry everything comfortably (think Carhartt work dungaree). IWB makes it simple to commit to carrying no matter what I'm wearing.
