Thanks Doeswhateveraspidercan, I grabbed a set. It's acceptable to bring the sharpmaker on a freight train for setting up in a hotel while away from home, but it should be really nice to have something more travel friendly. I didn't even know these stones existed!

I've used a thin coat of petroleum jelly with great success.

Quick question for those of you who have the sharpmaker cbn rods. How do you clean those? I imagine using anything abrasive is a no no. Sorry to hijack, but op mentioned just cleaning his.....

I was also curious as to why and who uses lanyards, until I bought the PPT Sprint last year. The deployment is quicker, and it makes a difference for me when reaching into a pocket on my overalls. I haven't added a lanyard to the rest of my knives, but I'm more open minded now.

After reading about it here, carrying IWB became something I do frequently. With how I organize my pockets, I needed one or two side pockets on my pants to carry everything comfortably (think Carhartt work dungaree). IWB makes it simple to commit to carrying no matter what I'm wearing.
