National Knife Day GAW!

#1

Post by TazKristi »

Saturday, August 24th, is National Knife Day; we're celebrating it with a GAW! The contest starts now and runs until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, August 25th. All you need to do is comment in this thread. Tell us what your favorite Spyderco is and why. We'll choose two winners at random on Monday, August 26th. Winners will be announced in a new thread.

And if you're on Facebook, Instagram, X, Threads, or LinkedIn, look for a post on those platforms (on August 24th) for another chance to win. You'll find links to our official pages here: https://linktr.ee/spyderco.

Prizes are a surprise, but we think you'll like them. ;) :bug-red

Good luck!
There is nothing more important than this one day.

My favorite Spyderco is the Manix 2. It's very challenging to choose just one! The Manix 2 can be deployed quickly, and it fits just perfectly in my hand.

My favorite is the Stretch 2 XL in Cruwear. It provides a whole lotta edge for the size of the package. It's quick and easy to put a spectacular edge on this knife.

What's a GAW? Why do I need one?

Nirvana is my favorite for many reasons: S90V is a perfect steel for folders, amazing ergonomics, integral Ti handle with spiderweb details, one of the most beautiful designs Spyderco has ever made.

The Para 3 is my favorite. I love the size and shape. The collectibility and value. I own all of them! And I mean all of them! It’s just the perfect knife for me. There are so many different combinations of steels and color scales. I just love it, thanks.

Has to be this Bodacious for me, because I finally have a model that gives me just enough handle without being too bulky, with all the blade edge they can squeeze into it, without any finger choils or grooves to get in my way. It's the folding fixed blade I've always wanted.

My trusty Manix 2 in Rex45. Favorite model because it melts in my hand (even better with these micarta scales) I've tried many different Spyderco's over the past 8 years, but the Manix remains my King. Rex45 has been my favorite steel since all the Sprints dropped years ago. It was a fun time on the forum, and when I really started getting into sharpening and appreciating the learning curve.

Hello TazKristi!
I'm a 1st time poster, long time reader, have around 50 spydies, love all of them! Very hard to pick a favourite but would have to go with my 1st spyderco purchase- Paramilitary 2 digicamo DLC- it's an instant classic, perfect action, ergos spot on, genius lock design, looks great, excellent build quality, American made(I'm Australian but like to support my allies) and most of all cuts great.

this is always a tough question for me to answer. the manix is undoubtedly my favorite model. it's like an extension of my hand when i use it and it's honestly the most perfect knife design i've ever used. i own five of them now and still want more.

however, my most carried knife is the spyderedge pacific salt. it's always on me because it can go anywhere i go, to include the ocean.

both knives are really great, but for different reasons. if i had to only choose one forever, it would be the se pacific salt. if i had to choose my favorite, it would be the manix in this configuration.

Civilian CLIPIT Black G-10, C12G

The Civilian has a reverse "S" blade intended to be used like an oversized claw, and I do not have any blades like that. Might make an interesting self defense knife.

Image I usually say my favorite is whatever is in my pocket that day . Today was no different but decided to carry one of the original Manix knives in pocket . I have a lot of great memories with this knife and its big brother . I still love the sound of the heavy snap locking into open position. MG2

I love all my Spydies! But, if I'm forced to pick just one... My favorite Spyderco is my BBB 15v ParaMilitary2. It's quick to deploy and to get it back in my pocket without having to think about it. Edge retention & stability are great! It's reasonably easy to touch up and get back to slicey again, when needed. The stonewashed finish is a nice added touch. And the deep carry clip and Micarta scales send it to the top of my list. Though, the Military2 will probably dethrone it when it gets the BBB 15v treatment.

Thanks for the contest Kristi!

My favorite is the Manix, especially the LW versions!

I have really enjoyed the Chief, however…

I also have a really hard time leaving my Siren in my drawer despite the love-hate relationship with the 2 different versions of the model.

The venerable Spyderco Paramilitary 2 is my favorite Spydie and favorite knife all around. The S90V with teal scales was my first PM2 and is still probably my most-carried variation. Everybody's hands are a little different, but the PM2 fits my hand perfectly open or closed, and all the bits just seem to line up for a knife experience that I no longer have to think about... it's become more of an extension of my hand. I need a blade? My hand produces the PM2 safely open in an instant, and when the job is done it is neatly tucked away just as efficiently.

Today, I'm carrying the REC-avo CTS-204P:

My answer to this question has remained the same for many years. The PPT Perrin is my favorite Spyderco knife! I love the design's eye-catching aesthetics. I also love the blade shape - just a bit of belly towards the tip of the blade and a low blade tip in general. I like how much control the low blade tip provides. Also, the handle is awesome for me. Fits me perfectly and I love the hand filling ergonomics. I like every version there has been so far but the PPT Perrin Black sprint run, specifically, is at the top of the list.

Thanks for the opportunity, Spyderco! :respect :bug-white-red
