Re: Swayback Lookout Thread

I just got a MXG clip and it fits Swayback much better than the Lynch clip (it sits flush with the edge of the scale). I've really enjoyed carrying mine and using it for some light tasks. Great design! And regarding opening with my thumbpad: it's a little more difficult than some knives but I think ...

Re: Swayback Lookout Thread

FWIW, I didn't really mean to sound negative or bum anybody out about the Swayback. Just being honest about my first impressions. Like I said, it's a nice knife it just doesn't thrill me like I was hoping it would. I have no plans to get rid of it at this point. I'll keep it around and see if it gr...

For folks out there still looking for a swayback don’t give up. It’s well worth the effort.

I modded mine today and removed the shiny hardware.
I love the looks of your hardware and clip! Could you let me know what process you did to get those results?

Re: Swayback Lookout Thread

I just got home and opened mine. It's nice but not sure about it What are you not sure about? Just wondering. I guess after all the anticipation for this one I'm feeling underwhelmed by it. I have a lot of Ti frame locks and the Swayback doesn't really thrill me considering the price. I can't open ...

Re: Swayback Lookout Thread

I received mine today. Amazing fit and finish, reminds me of the Slysz Bowie with the mirror-polish stonewashed blade and contoured Ti handles. Super smooth opening, solid lockup, no lock stick, and razor sharp edge. I don’t have calipers but feels decently thin behind the edge with the hollow grind...

Re: Swayback Lookout Thread

campsaver has them on back order, but it should be in stock very soon. you can also add 20% off coupon with email sign up! Not sure how soon Campsaver will have them back in stock but mine shipped from them a few days ago and will be here tomorrow! Getting 20% off definitely swayed me to pull the t...

Re: Swayback

I’m not sure if Spyderco has done that before or not. It’s definitely interesting though! Here’s a video I saw a few days ago that has a Swayback disassembled: https://youtu.be/azRdVSwso60

Re: Swayback

OK, there seems to be some confusion about the clip I put on my Swayback, it IS a stock Spyderco clip off the Nirvana (model C199). It is definitely steel and not titanium (a magnet sticks to it quite nicely), and the reason it matches the Swayback so well is it came out of the same Taichung factor...

Re: Swayback

Hmm that’s too bad about the Lynch deep carry clip extending past the end of the knife - I was planning on putting one of those on it but now I’m not sure! Mine shipped today so I should have it in a few days. I do like the looks of that titanium hourglass clip on the Swayback, I might end up orderi...

Re: Dragonfly Special

I think M390 or Maxamet make a lot of sense for a Dragonfly. It’s a small blade so I would think how long it holds an edge is going to be the most important thing for a lot of people. I voted for M390 and Maxamet which are two of the best “edge holding” steels for stainless and non-stainless, respec...

Re: Crazy Good Deals Part 2!!

I've placed backorders a few times with campsaver in the past (they stopped honoring discounts on Spydercos last year but apparently the coupons work on them again!) and sometimes it would take a while to actually be delivered, but it was normally worth it for me to get the 20% off. So if you're not...

Re: Waterway or Aqua Salt?

Can't vote as I haven't owned either. I have handled both and the Waterway's scales were too thin for me. The Aqua Salt is much more ergonomic with thicker scales. I much prefer the LC200N blade on the waterway compared to the H-1 steel for the Aqua Salt. If the Aqua Salt switched to a LC200N blade ...

Re: Anyone else dislike the wire pocket clip?

I love the wire clip! I wish Spyderco put it on just about every knife they made. I like the spoon clip well enough but normally replace those with Lynch deep carry clips (I just prefer a more discrete carry and the lynch clips also feel great in hand). I don’t have to worry about replacing the wire...

Re: Suggestion for changing Spyderco budget knife steel 8Cr13Mov

In this same vein, it seems like the Bow River has done pretty well from all the accounts I have seen online (no idea what the sales numbers actually are, but I imagine they’re good). I have one and really like it, the design is fantastic. I would be extremely interested in another one with a better...

Re: Spyderco Knives You Want to See Back in Regular Production

Slysz Bowie or Air. Though the Slysz Bowie's MSRP before being discontinued was $499, so even assuming no price increase with MSRP, with current MAP it would be priced at $350. This is definitely less than you can get one for now on the secondary market, but I bet that price would be too steep for a...
