Re: The Tactical Bottle Opener: Spyderco ClipiTool Standard

A year ago a hailstorm damaged my siding and roof. No leaks so I waited for others who were worse off to get repaired and for the carpetbaggers to leave. Now we have had one of the wettest winters in more than 140 years. A local builder four man crew finally started construction last week. They work...

Re: The Tactical Bottle Opener: Spyderco ClipiTool Standard

This does not have much to do with beer, though I did drink an extra one that night. February 17, I had to put down our last longhorn. The saddest duty in ranching is a monstrous act of mercy. Shooting a downed cow to put it out of its misery before buzzards begin their gruesome job while she is sti...

Re: The Last Gun You Bought

In 1981 I bought a Security Six in stainless steel for my petite daughter. My recollection is that I chose it because it was the smallest revolver available for the 357 and she did not to want a semi-auto. The price was very reasonable at that time. I think she still has it.

Re: The Tactical Bottle Opener: Spyderco ClipiTool Standard

In 1927, the Armadillo became the official state mammal of Texas. It's a strange critter. They give birth to quadruplets, they prefer the same temperature, 76 degrees, as a naked human being and they are the only other mammal that can have leprosy. This Houston brewery has a beer in honor of it. htt...

Re: The Tactical Bottle Opener: Spyderco ClipiTool Standard

With more than 66,000 reviews this cleverly named English India Pale Ale scored 3.7 out of 5 on UNTAPPD.com . That does not sound like much, but no English IPA scored a 4 or better. Tough crowd. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/VG0pZ95M7yoYKHMGBFylfRE-IyJmeqOu2zjlLUu3IT5n9FJzCpIPaFhYlvDuaaVDc1ZBO9I...

Re: The Tactical Bottle Opener: Spyderco ClipiTool Standard

Hungry cows want their hay and we had been putting out round bales for about a month when I realized I had clipped in my Standard and left my "hay knife", a serrated Tenacious, at home. To my surprise the plain edge Standard slashed through the netting without difficulty. It is now promoted to hay k...

Re: The Last Gun You Bought

Thank you. In case anyone else is wondering about buying a surplus 1911, the anti-gun majority in the house of representatives did not authorize the Department of the Army to release any service pistols to the CMP for 2019 or 2020 in spite of the previous legislation that was passed permitting up to...

Re: The Last Gun You Bought

For decades military collectors have yearned for the Civilian Marksmanship Program https://thecmp.org/ to make available surplus 1911 service pistols. This finally came to pass in 2018 while congress had a pro second amendment majority. Up to 10,000 pistols per year could be released by the Departme...

Re: What makes me angry

Libertarians would say that there is actually an argument to be made here for "price gouging". The knee jerk reaction is get a rope and hang'em. But hold on a New York minute. The objective here is to prevent hoarding and get supplies to the people who need it while incentivizing manufacturers, dist...

Last month, my son and grandson took me to a big paintball tournament in Seven Points about an hour and a half north of me. The two or three hundred young men and a few females are a friendly, fun loving bunch of people. Then they go out on the 55 acre battlefield and try to shoot each other Saturda...

Sweet, juicy Ruby Red grapefruit from "the valley" on the border with Mexico is a wintertime treat. Ruby Redbird has been featured on this thread before but recently Shiner changed the label to promote it as a low-calorie alternative. Still a tasty Texas brew. The blade had a chance to go to work fo...
