Spyderco and CQI: You gotta Love it.
Mr Mayhem (awesome SoA reference lol)
My P3 is like Josh's, which Mike Janich has stated is a "1 gen" and yours is of the CQI "2nd gen". This CQI was due to illogical end user over strike testing. One positive aspect is Spyderco solved an "issue" that most end ...

Re: pm2 should've been "the one"
I thought there was talk about a FRN version at last year's Amsterdam meeting.
Since I tend to buy back ups, I'm watching for that to come to fruition. If the FRN makes it a bit thinner and possibly solves that pesky oversized lanyard issue- It will be a must have for me anyway.
I like mine ...

Re: pm2 should've been "the one"
I tried the lanyard craze, one of those "not for me" things so I agree that the lanyard hole should be smaller, incorporated to the stand off or eliminated altogether.
I'm waiting on Lynch clip availability but I'm liking this one at the moment.

pm2 should've been "the one"
but never quite warmed up to it
Not sure why, but I will keep it "just in case"
D'fly 2's, Stretch's, Delica 4's I have multiples of and enjoy carrying and using them.
Always have said "Maybe if the PM2 was smaller" then I see the Para 3 dropped in December :) Everywhere I looked it was ...

Re: OK, it's time to get serious
I know you want a production knife, but an Endura with Janich blade mod could be a doable self mod? It would look a Kahr Delica with 1/2" more blade.

Joe
Joe,
You're missing a DF2 in your size progression between the Spin and Chaparral .
Between your various hobbies and now knife-aholic I'm surprised you have time to post!
Grab a Spydie & go shoot that 98 and sink an 8 in corner already :p I know I gotta be ...

Re: What is your favorite version of the Spyderco ParaMilitary?
what is your favorite version?
This may seem obvious to most here : The Next One . Always.
Being an owner of one(t'ja! only one PM2 ), finding myself in your shoes after gifting that only one away- I'd take the price I originally paid and add $100-150+ to my budget and get one in an upscale steel ...

Re: Good knife to carry in a Hat?
I know this was a serious question ...but I could only come up with Mom's advise.
"Don't run with skizzers" (which meant knives hatchets chainsaws spoke shaves hiding knives in shoes/hats/gloves yada yada)" or you'll end up with it stuck somewhere unexpected and look like this fella"

May not be in droves but we are out there. I wonder if the percentage of forum enthusiasts correlates to non-forumites that buy and use knives but never seek more information?

Re: Less than 3" Blade, Deep Pocket, $40-$100 Options?
If the DF2's wire clip slot would be lengthened to straddle the lanyard tube hole, it sinks it as deep as is possible short of removing the clip entirely. FRN and G10 versions fall in your $ range. Cutting edge is just under your 2" criteria- it cuts like a much longer blade though. You probably ...

Re: Has the love affair with ZDP-189 ended?
It's been 10 full days since the DF2 ZDP was reprofiled, several dozen corrugated boxes, clam shell packages and plastic bags have been felled by the MightyLBK and I can still shave with it. I'm impressed. It may not the "be all, end all" but I am impressed! So. I ordered a Stretch 2 in ZDP. :p ...

Re: Has the love affair with ZDP-189 ended?
Have avoided zdp anything as i'd been put off by the "hard to sharpen" reputation by many forumites. S30V, 60V, 90V, 154CM, ATS34, among other "lesser" steels in my possession have never been a problem- some just take a bit more time. My 1st zdp knife arrived midweek(a Dragonfly btw) out of the box ...
