pm2 should've been "the one"

but never quite warmed up to it
Not sure why, but I will keep it "just in case"
D'fly 2's, Stretch's, Delica 4's I have multiples of and enjoy carrying and using them.
Always have said "Maybe if the PM2 was smaller" then I see the Para 3 dropped in December :) Everywhere I looked it was either preorder or sold out :(
Checked one more site and Viola! Clicked it through and it arrived Saturday.
Have to say, for me, it IS what I feel the PM2 should have been in my hand.
Only con to it was the high pocket ride, which was easily remedied with a generic titanium clip from Mickley just west of me. Perfect lock up, free drop to close, even grind(and gosh durn toothy sharp!) and fits me well. Nice Job SpyderCrew!
Am surprised that there isn't much chatter here about this gem???? (i searched and came up with only a few threads)
Is there a possibility this will be made in <gasp> FRN ?

There was a huge amount of chatter before it dropped and a good amount after but like most anticipated hits the buzz wears off quick, that's just how us spydie junkies are, waiting for that next hit. :D

I've always really liked the PM2, it's allmost the perfect carry for me so when I got the 3 I was like "Eh", it's a nice little piece but wasn't really earth shattering. There are a bunch others I'm more excited about.
Happy to be part of this great forum and group of down to earth spyderco addicts, Thanks Sal and gang.

I was eagerly anticipating the release of the Para 3 and now that I have one I haven't really warmed up to it yet. Don't get me wrong, it's nice and all but, for some reason, I don't find myself wanting to carry it. Not sure but I think the huge lanyard hole (for a small knife) and clip placement are part of the problem for me. Maybe once I can finally get my hands on a short Lynch clip (if I can ever find one) that might make a big difference. Time will tell I guess...

I thought there was talk about a FRN version at last year's Amsterdam meeting.

I tried the lanyard craze, one of those "not for me" things so I agree that the lanyard hole should be smaller, incorporated to the stand off or eliminated altogether.
I'm waiting on Lynch clip availability but I'm liking this one at the moment.

I did the P3 thing kinda backwards. I wasn't really enthused leading up to it, but once I handled one upon its release I had to have one. Now I find myself actively trying not to carry it exclusively because it's too perfect for my day to day life. If I were a rational person, I'd sell most of my collection because I don't really need them anymore.

This for me too. I wanted a Sage 5, but I waited on the Para 3 to handle both and make sure. I still want the Sage 5 first. A bit more slim in multiple ways, and a wire clip, really make a difference.

Interestingly, I never owned a Paramilitary 2 until I bought a Para 3. In fact, I've never owned a Golden model of Spyderco. I've always owned Caly's or Chaparral type knives. I always thought Paramilitaries looked too big to suit my tastes for small, thin, gentlemenly styled knives.

When I opened the box containing the Para 3 I thought, "My gosh, that is a big knife!" When I received my PM2 it really seemed... smaller. Something about the longer lines and the blade not being quite as tall. Plus the PM2 rides in the pocket just like the Para 3 so why not have a bit longer blade?

Within a month of receiving my Para 3 I now own the following PM2's (trading my Para 3 for the black/satin S30V):
M390 BBS Sprint
M4 Jade G10
S110V
S30V - Black/Satin
S30V - Camo

So far the Jade M4 has been carried the most, followed by the Camo S30V.

All have the small low-rise titanium clips installed, which I consider a must for deep-pocket carry.

(As a sidenote, I'm not sure why you guys all sit around waiting for Casey Lynch clips. MXGGear has identical clips nearly always instock and they are of the same quality, cheaper price, and fabulous shipping and customer service)

Mostly I'm waiting for price and supply to settle down. It will be nice to have a smaller heavy duty utility knife like the para3, that can still double for sd.

For the Para 3 I want the short Lynch clip because at 2.125" I think it's a good length and it looks a little better than the short clip from MXG Gear. The short Lynch is also $5 less than the short MXG clip.

I have a long Lynch clip that I installed on the P3 and, while it was an improvement over the stock clip, it was still a little too long.

I'm with the few others here, I still haven't quite warmed up to the Para3 the way I was hoping to. I was excited for it but it just didn't do it for me like I anticipated. The clip placement and lanyard hole are probably the biggest factors. I feel they tried to keep the lanyard hole and spydie hole the same size as the PM2, but they could've scaled them down and done better. Going to keep trying to carry and see if it grows on me. If my Sage 5 had better action it would be no contest.

Since I tend to buy back ups, I'm watching for that to come to fruition. If the FRN makes it a bit thinner and possibly solves that pesky oversized lanyard issue- It will be a must have for me anyway.

...I see what you enablers are doing there... :p I'll have to pick up a new wardrobe then so I have enough pockets for another spydie or ten! The Sage 5 is on my list, I just had to scratch the Para itch first though. I'm glad I did as it does fill the smaller PM2 role very well. I have the PM2, Stretch's and Super Leaf's for larger folders.

I have one MXG clip, and it's sitting in a drawer somewhere lol. Lynch is the way to go, and I like to support a local guy when I can :) just my opinion.

I've actually really been loving the Para 3, it hasn't left my pocket since I got it from Pat. I wish you could get a clip Pat so you could enjoy this thing!

It's not that I don't enjoy it....I do. I just don't find myself carrying it as much as I thought I would. I think a big part of the problem is that I have too many other knives that I really like and they're all competing for pocket time. Once I get a clip on the P3 and it becomes a little more user friendly for me I'm sure it'll get used more.

Sounds like my problem too..I'm getting to many spydies as well, but that's not possible :D It's to hard to be fair to all of them I will admit.

I like the big spyder hole on the blade and the big lanyard hole. They are functional. May as well not have the lanyard hole if you're going to make it so small you can't get 2 strands of paracord through the hole. (I'd be ok with no lanyard hole, but not a smaller hole on the blade)
