Can we talk about seeeling? w/smoth steels

Particularly with smooth steels.

Someone recently mentioned that a particular steel responds well to a smooth steel.
I guess I could have been too critical of the possible benefits. To me it looked like - trying to milk a bit of life out of a folded stressed edge. My simpleton view was to simply ...

Cliff; thanks for the heads up on the SPS-II 1000. Very interesting! I just ordered the SPS-II 1200. TFJ makes it out too be a step beyond. Possibly better than sliced bread.

I buy my jeans at Cost Co. They have an extra deep watch pocket. Deep enough for and endura. When I am carrying something that large I will not bother clipping it. If I am carrying something like a DFly it's gotta be clipped.

I Frog Lube my Super Blue and ZDP blades. My SB Caly 3 almost immediately acquired a very large and deep pit. I was holding off lubing it because I hoped to force a patina with vinegar or potato. I probably did not clean it after some food prep and let it sit..... Anyway about mid blade there is a ...

One my favorite Spideys is a ZDP Dragonfly with a distinct deep pit. I did not clean it off after slicing an apple, and it sat that way for a good long time. I was very bummed, and now pay more attention and lube 'em up every so often.

I remember reading somewhere where; an owner was swapping blades from ZDP Calys to G10 Calys and vise-versa. He even swapped blades form Caly3s to Caly 3.5s.
So this evening I popped the pivot screw out of the 3.5 and took the blade out for a meticulous cleaning and a hairdryer Frog Lube treatment ...

Ironic. Last nite I got out my 3.5, and marveled how much I like it. It moved up in the rotation and will be carried for at least a few more days, before something else claims pole position. Lately a Caly 3 and a Sage1 have had the most pocket time. Gritty.............never noticed that. But my ...

For firearms, I am a Frog Lube convert. For the initial Frog Lube application I disassemble and heat everything with a hair dryer, liberally apply the FL and wipe dry. For my firearms it is a godsend. FL has replaced a handful of stinky hazardous products. It is FDA approved, smells great, no need ...

I too recently picked up a CF chaparral- cts-xhp, expecting it to compete for pocket time w/mfactdragonfly. But the lock bar is too uncomfortable. I think I will send it to Spiderco and hopefully they can remedy it. It is a great knife and joy to hold.
