I've lost two Police models. One was an original model, with the square edged handles, that I acquired when they first came out. The other was a more recent model, with the rounded handles, that I've been carrying for years. Both were stolen from my home by acquaintences.

The last one was stolen by ...

Thanks guys, for the votes of confidence. I do appreciate it. I look forward to owning more Spyderco knives and writing more. Thanks again.

The Chinook

I purchased a Chinook several weeks ago and now that I've had a chance to use it, play with it, and do the usual breaking-in that knife-lovers do with a new acquisition, I thought I'd share a thing or two.

A bit of background to this purchase: why a Chinook?

My carry-knife while clubbing on ...

The Navigator

I'm very enthused about my new knife and I just thought I'd rave about it here. Hope you all don't mind.

After years of carrying an Endura SS PE as my EDC knife, I was faced with the fact that it's just too big and threatening for the "sheeple" I often find myself around. I originally opted for ...

Rex,

I would be throughly fascinated to know why you prefer to carry a backup knife instead of a backup gun; perhaps on another thread?

Instead of purchasing a Delica SS PE, as I mentioned earlier, I've opted for the Navigator with the blade in GIN-1 steel, which will probably become my EDC knife of choice.

I'm kinda new around here, so I haven't seen anyone mention anything about GIN-1 steel. Any comments?

Koolstof,

With all due respect, I would suggest that you invest time and money in seeking out the best training, in martial blade craft and/or martial skills in general (I humbly suggest Wing Chun), that you can possibly find.

Being a skilled fighter, with or without a knife, will make the ...

I suppose the one Spyderco knife that's on my person at all times, by default due to the fact it's always in my wallet and I always have my wallet with me, is the Spydercard 50/50. I never really use it, though. It's there, just in case...

However, as for an EDC "using" knife, it's been the Endura ...

I've never had a problem with clips on Spydercos, except with the puched-out clips on early models; they would cut the openings of my pockets. I'm glad they eliminated that design flaw.

I have owned knives with most of the lock mechanisms mentioned and I've never actually had any of them fail on me, probably because I've never misused any of them. I think all the locks mentioned are adequate when a folder is used as designed.

Some locks "feel" more secure than others, to be sure ...

That's good to hear. I had just recently changed my mind on ordering a Delica SS PE, in favor of a Navigator PE. I was wondering the same thing about the Almite.

I've been carrying an Endura SS PE for years and it's covered with scratches, but I don't mind. I've always considered them marks of ...

I've owned Cold Steel knives since Lynn Thompson started the company, and they've certainly been innovative when it comes to marketing and the design of production knives, but it seems to me that most of their best "ideas", (as well as the best "ideas" of other companies), when it comes to folders ...

I've carried many brands of knives over the years, for various purposes under various circumstances, but the one knife I reach for more than any other is the PE Endura SS.

I intend on purchasing a PE Delica SS this month, which will probably become my primary knife at work, because it's less ...

Thanks for the advice. I've tried that. I don't know if you've handled a Chinook, but it's very difficult to do what you suggested. The spring on the lock is one of the heaviest I've ever seen. The knife does open much easier when you release pressure on the lock, but there is no stripe of polished ...
