After serious consideration, I'm definitely gonna say a newly redesigned/sprint run Dodo; while I'd love the folks at Spyderco to engage my every engineering whim and fancy, I'll settle (and pay handsomely for) a new Dodo in... well, any color, really. :D

Good info., Cliff. I'm not too proud to admit I see two or three things I've done wrong in the past. Good information on technique here, all around.

Ooooo, I like that! Definitely a Shabaria. Maybe a smaller model? One less likely to offend sheeple? I've always liked the blade; maybe a different handle? It's not really ergonomic for me, and I like using knives, as opposed to merely looking at them.

My thought, JD, wasn't so much to change the blade of the Tasman Salt, as it was to redesign the handle into something larger and different; my only gripe (if you can really call it that) with the Tasman has been how far the blade juts out of the Delica 3-type handle in the closed position. I think ...

I actually started stropping my blades on a legal pad backer; that weird cardboard stock stuff they place behind that last sheet. Works great for me.

Good, I'm glad it broke on him! That's probably the [expletive] who beat me out on my eBay auction, and got MY Sal Glesser custom raindrop Damascus Native! Oh well, this guy in China assures me he's got another 499 or so of them left; time to get back in there bidding!

I've never seen an issue with a heat treat myself, so I wouldn't know what to look for.

I have a coated S30V Native 4, and haven't had any issue, but my blade's serrated, so the grind is obviously a bit different. For my part, I guess my only questions would be how much love are you giving it to ...

Welcome to the forums, mate! Just joined recently myself; also a lefty to boot.

I think you'll find that, so long as FRN and G-10 are your handle materials of choice, Spyderco will be VERY supportive of your ergonomic needs; virtually every model they make in more utilitarian, "working" series ...

I've become a big fan of the Tasman Salt; I'd like to see it with a slightly larger, different handle. Something maybe with a slight backward curve, some gentle finger choiling; a larger, different handle that sheaths more of the blade than does the Tasman Salt's Delica 3-series handle.

Of course ...

Seems a sad bit of business such a post was even necessary... eh. C'est la vie, I guess.

I just joined because I love the product Sal and company put out; solid quality, very intuitive, user-friendly, and forward-thinking. I understand some people may not agree with my interpretation of "what makes ...

I freely admit, I gave into my basest impulses, and read the "knives" portion of the article; I don't think I've ever read so many ignorant assertions in my life! There were so many straw man arguments in there, I'd have been afraid to smoke a cigarette near my laptop for fear of it catching fire ...

Hi there, all. Sorry for such a delay; been diving, and busy with school, work, etc., etc.

I've been trying to take a picture of my Saver Salt as requested, but I can't seem to get the lighting right; that incredibly high luster on the finished blade reflects so much, it washes out the rest of the ...

Spyderco Saver Salt Dive Test

So I'm new to the Spyderco Forums, although I have built an embarrassingly large collection of Spyderco knives over the past five or six years, since purchasing my first Delica 4 (I've got three now). I just thought I'd share my most recent experience with a Spyderco knife; that of recreational ...
