It's sad how so many people fall for doomsday prophets. You can imagine there were plenty of doomsayers during the Black Death of Europe and any other disaster whether natural or man made you can think of.

It's a wonder we haven't heard of people taking the raptures into their own hands. After ...

Someone on the CS forums posted a video for a patina on SS using sulfamic acid crystals made into a paste. Going to try foods first. I'm patient and have more than enough knives to rotate EDC.

Has anyone tried a patina on the stainless handled knives? Both the handle and blade? Curious if that works.

Very nice. Would you mind posting a side view of it? Gives me ideas for a few trees that'll be coming down this fall/winter. :D

Question about the Schempp Rock- Are the handle scales removable? I'll be pruning a black walnut tree when the sap dies down and I can see some nice possibilities.

Haven't looked at the salt series that much, honestly. Looks like it would make a decent river knife though. Definitely SE if I were to get one.

I've always liked Spyderco for their serrated knives. But now that I've tried a few plain, gotta give a thumbs up. Plain delica on the left, serrated tenacious on the right. About to switch it to either a serrated delica or a harpy. Love the weight on the stainless handles. Can't decide which to get ...

Liking the PE delica so far as a lefty. Thinking about getting a SE delica for the right. Except for writing, I'm ambidextrous. So for me, knives of the same size can be switched out to whatever side they're needed and I know them as an extension of my hand.

I've never really seen much benefit to using a honing compound. I've always been a free hand sharpener using stones and an old piece of leather. With my BM fixed blade it's usually a hard Arkansas stone if the edge is sort of dull and a short strap of leather to smooth it out.

I own a lot more Cold ...

You may want to look into stropping. There are paddles or you can do it free hand. There are plenty of how to videos on youtube.

I like to know any knife I carry can hold up to a wilderness situation. This would include whittling weapons/trap components, shaving the outer and inner bark off of trees, and preparing food.

Most of this is meant more for a fixed blade, yes, but there are situations when you have to work with ...

Good to know, Evil D. There's a gun and knife show coming up here at the end of the month, so I'll get a chance to handle a few. Not really a lot of stores in this area that sell Spyderco and holding it first is a big selling point for me.

Altho ive been a steel snob and especially with Japanese steels im very surprised I haven't bought a knife yet with VG10 for the blade steel.
Its a highly rated steel on par with S30V to many people, Some say its a bit lower tho.
Ive got several Spydies i want to buy yet and i hope at least one ...

First time posting, but I've had several Spydies over the years. Got a Bill Moran last year and got a nick in the belly. A few quick strokes on soft, medium, and hard Arkansas stones and you can never tell it was there. Still shaving sharp too. Trying out a new plain edge delica now.
