nightburn and gbelleh: Thank you for your suggestion. I tried it, but find that my fingers are neither nimble enough nor strong enough for that method.

I discovered that I can use the flesh of the thumb right at the tip of the lock where it is most pliable, to disengage it. Still slightly painful ...

Evil D - Your point is very valid. Or maybe I just have abnormally weak thumbnails :) Perhaps if there had been a bit more purchase for the thumb. As it is, i can only get my thumbnail to dig in.

Onionman - You can try the flicking the knife open. Since the blade is pretty heavy, it comes out quite ...

Schempp Tuff - issues?

Hi, everyone. I have been handling my Schempp Tuff for a couple of weeks. I love the beefiness of the blade, and it is a beautiful knife to look at. I have a couple of issues with it, though.

It is pretty hard to open single-handedly, though obviously still possible. What I almost can't deal with ...

AJA; it's the technical acronyms that pertain to spyderco stuff that throws me. The chat lingo I can handle.

But hey, I'm not here to change things. Just having some fun, that's all. ;)

That's just it. Although I love the feel of that knife, I don't like that it's a combo edge, and that its got 2 scratches on the blade steel. So, my pocket will be safe for a while... hahaha

CPM S30V and CPM-S30V

I think you're right. I should wait for a good deal to come along on ebay or something. I would rather have it in straight edge anyway.

I have short fingers... and the lock is new and VERY stiff... haha. I'll just flick it out with a twist of my wrist. That seems to be the easiest way. And it gets easier with practice. ;)

Thanks, everyone, for helping me solve the mystery.

Yeah, the sticker says 300 bucks... but thats in Singaporean currency. The shop owner offered it for $220, (about USD$170). I'm pretty sure the knife is at least 6 years old on the shelf and it has a couple of scratches on the blade.

Not a good ...

I held it in my hand... it was bigger than a mini or manix 2... if the shape is correct, it must be a C95.

Is this poliwog authentic?

Hi, guys. I wonder if this poliwog is authentic. I compared the pic from ebay:

to the one on the spyderco website.

Thanks, guys, for the replies. Modifying the knife is too much work, not that I'd know how. :D

I can use the inertia method, but it takes quite a bit of force to get the blade out. There is also the danger of flinging my knife hard into the floor. That would be painful. hehehehe

loosen the detent?

Hi, folks. I'd like to loosen the detent on my Manix 2, so that I can flick the blade out with a wrist movement. Can I do that without creating any play on the lock-up? Any advice would be greatly appreciated? (I'm new to spyderco knives) :)

I would love to collect all the low-priced knives that are 30 dollars and below, but... I live in singapore and its just not worth the shipping... not piece by piece anyway; which is part of the fun when shopping on ebay. Each time i ship a piece over, its about 17 dollars. :(

wongKI; I believe your address is correct. Walk against the traffic and go towards your right. But really, not worth your trouble, unless you wanna check out the other things they have. I saw a couple of benchmades, cold steels and gerbers. The rest look like made in china type of crap... lots of it ...
