Re: Compression lock play when closed

I have the same issue with my para 3 lw, and I have seen soething similar in youtube video, so I guess it is not very uncommon. Though I have handled compression lock knives that are rock solid when closed

Re: Let’s face it Liner Locks and Back Locks suck!

If you need a very thin knife it has to be backlock (chaparral), and i love military liner lock, vmwould like to see more spydercos with the same, expecially in lw frn configuration. While compression lock gives similar weight, reliability, self cleaning advantage, for me it seems to wear faster (my...

Re: Cure of compression lock blade play

Thanks for replies! Actually, may try some flicking, since I always tried to hold lock-bar a bit when opening for it not to slam the tang and not to wear quickly.

The knife is fully stock and here is the picture, that probably gives a better view of the lockup

Cure of compression lock blade play

Hello, I have a para 3 lightweight knife and it has developed a vertical (up and down) blade play. Reason seems to be is that the lock’s liner has travelled too far, so not enough tension from the spring to move even further (moving it further by hand eliminates the play). All screws (except pivot) ...

Re: Now that Sal has mentioned that possibility: Chaparral FRN variants? (blade shape, color, steel...) - your proposals

Chaparral frn lightweight: frn backspacer, a larger holes in the liners in a couple of places. I know this is a bit herecy, but I would dream about chaparral and mini bugout (the only non-spyderco I love) hybrid: - Bugout handle: i.e. no choil, simple, rectangular form with deeper cutout for index f...

Re: Spyderco Chaparral FRN backspacer upgrade

Titanium liners with frn backspacer would be cool :) wondering, how much weight that would reduce.
And round end of handle a bit it para 3 style to make carry clip even deeper. Ad add tri-ad lock (if the patent is expired) :D sorry, fantasizing :winking-tongue

Re: Spyderco Chaparral FRN backspacer upgrade

Thank you all for the great input! G10 is actually interesting, but wouldn't probably manage to do it myself :) could not find anything quickly on etsy. regarding "little tank" - it is what appeals to me also, other small lightweight knives (dragonfly, mini bugout) do sacrifise much more i...

Spyderco Chaparral FRN backspacer upgrade

Hi, Does anyone know if there are aftermarket lightweight backspacers for Chaparral frn? Maybe from frn, cf, aluminium? I like mine very much and also do think, that metal backspacer adds to the look, however I would really like the knife to be a bit lighter and with more balance to the front. Don't...

New Military???

Hello everyone, I know, this is a silly question , before I ask it, (and somewhere previously discussed), but I am wondering is there any information on whether there would be a Military upgrade soon, and if it would, what could be the possible improvements. I am planning to buy that knife, but the ...

I would like to see larges screws, not to be afraid taking the knife apart to clean and not damage the tiny screws. Pivot bushing, as on para 2, basicaly for the same reason. Also another clip, to ride in the pocket deeper. Would be an absolutely perfect knife, imho.

Thank you, guys! Vassili, you actually surprised me with your test results. I was just thinkig, that availability of 3g steel is more like an advantage of WM1. Jurphaas, i would like to as you, if your hands are big? Maybe there is the problem with wm1 ergo for you? Isn't micarta slippery, as dogrun...

Thanks, Chris! Yeah, I guess BM Nimravus Cub is a great knife, but it is pity it does not come with uncoated blade. And I guess it is a bitlonger than these two. I am looking more for like substitute to a folder, a knife, which would be easy to clean (especially from sand). That is also a little con...

Street beat or Fallkniven wm1?

Hey guys! Any thoughts on street beat vs fallkniven wm1? Planning to get one of them. Also would be great to see some pictures of both together.
