I have carried both the Sage and the Caly3. In my pockets, at least, the Sage is noticeably "fatter" and heavier. If you can live without the lock, the flat ground UKPKs are the same form as the Caly3 and lighter in weight than the Sage. I have one of the original green G10 handled ones and carry it ...

I have had the tiny-chip problem with both S30V and ZDP-189 when I sharpen them to 30 degrees inclusive. Didn't think my uses were that tough - cutting random stuff around the ranch - but there you have it.

I now sharpen to 30 degrees all the way through, and then add a very small microbevel at 40 ...

After EDC'ing Calys and Sages I went back to the ZDP Delica. FFG is nice but I can't say as I notice any difference in routine use. This is a great knife ergonomically, too, at least for my small hands.

However, we are comparing Spyderco S30V and ZDP189 so I stand by my statements regarding Spyderco S30V and ZDP189.

In fact ZDP189 can take an angle of 15 degree's per side and hold up better than S30V does. This seems to be born out in testing. I know my UKPK at 15 degree's per side likes to micro ...

I carried a couple of dragonflies over the years, the ones with the molded clip, and liked them very much. Lost them both eventually. And I recently bought the Tattoo version for my wife as a drawer queen, and she loves it.

Do we know for a fact these washers are teflon and not just plain old nylon? I had a post that asked this question several months back when I got my Walker and never got an answer.

PS. I carried my Walker for a while - VERY nice - but the clip arrangement was way too flashy for EDC in the office ...

Creepo, that certainly makes more sense, but peeling the grapefruit is often the most fun I have with my EDC all day long!

I have been using some wonderful Spydercos for EDC since last summer, including the Caly3 CF, Walker CF, Native, Sage 1, and UKPK. Whatever sort of fierce appliance the Manix is, I agree that it is in a different class than the others.

I have had several Delicas and Enduras over the years, but FWIW right now the knife of my heart (and EDC) is the UKPK. I love the slipit mechanism, took me by surprise, it did. Cheers.
