Re: Caly 3 HAP40 dropped

Nice one, thanks! I went for it - hopefully that order is real and they have the product. I guess now I'm hoping KO doesn't come through for me, b/c I don't particularly want or need two.

Re: Caly 3 HAP40 dropped

^ Yeah, same.
We were flooded with orders today for it way beyond what we have on order. I may be able to find more but I can't promise that i will be able to fill all the orders.
It did seem too easy...

Re: Caly 3 HAP40 dropped

Snagged one from KO.

Probably shouldn't have, but I sold my Superhawk yesterday, so I'm even for the week. And the Caly3 is my favorite.

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?

Caly3 (C113G) Spyderedge.

My previous Caly3 SE got taken at airport security a few months ago (my fault), so I've been searching around for a replacement. The Caly3 is my favorite, so I 'needed' to get a new SE to go with the PE and CF versions. It's my first new knife in ~6 years. First forum post ...

The other part is pure stubbornness on my part. I've put up with enough "wrong handed" stuff over the years not to do so when it's avoidable. Sure I could "make do" with some Walker, RIL, and compression lock models, but why should I. Too many excellent midlocks out there to bother.

+2 on that ...

Maybe not, but I got a pretty good laugh out of the Wiktionary link to "tool". Definition 6 is for sure the intended usage.

It's -13 F at the moment. The wind's at a steady 20+ knots, so -42 F with windchill.

That was absolutely fantastic.

Note: If you ever feel compelled to 'mug' yourself
with a taser, one note of caution: there is no such thing as a
one-second burst when you zap yourself. You will not let go of that
thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about

There are 3 reasons that come to me right off...

1) I'm just not a gun person.

2) I travel light (especially compared to a lot of people on this forum :D ). One knife at a time, single car key, money clip instead of a wallet, simple Timex watch, etc.

3) My "around town" philosophy is different ...

I've ordered from them maybe 4 or 5 times and been satisfied every time. They seem good about responding to email, and ship to APO addresses too.

I am curious about this liberal use of alcohol. I am far from a doctor, but I've heard people caution against using alcohol on cuts. Here is a quote from utahmountainbiking.com:

Alcohol is a disinfectant for INTACT skin or inanimate objects. Use it to clean gear such as splinter forceps. It can ...

I can't source this and it may well be untrue, but some talking head on some news channel pointed out that people who were "no longer actively seeking employment" were not counted in the unemployment percentages (a quick look at the bls.gov website seems to confirm this).

That's correct. They are ...

I too have been browsing the old Mule threads lately, and I can't wait to get my hands on my first Mule. I don't know about the availability of older Mules, I figure I'll just wait for the next one to be released.

I imagine Mr. Krein gets quite busy around that time (if he's ever not busy).

MeerKat clip reversal

I know the MeerKat sprint run buzz has died down a bit, but just this weekend I got around to switching the clip on mine for left pocket carry. Or at least, I started to switch the clip.

I can't seem to get the left and right screws to thread into the other side of the knife. The center screw is ...

I highly doubt a 10$ UKPK bought from the streets of Bangkok was real either a clone or fake, I mean cmon. Being your first Spyderco, back then you probably couldn't tell the difference, even if you could now.

I fully agree. Part of me even hopes it was fake, given its fate.

If it was a clone ...

Wow! That is a Caly3 stash indeed!

That certainly makes me feel better: when I heard it was being disco'd, I immediately bought a backup PE, an SE, and a CF (obviously I didn't realize which models were on their way out and which weren't. Actually, I think the SE was already disco'd). I thought ...
